<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Wednesday, December 4th I attended the match-up of 6A <strong>Hamilton</strong> hosting 6A&nbsp;<strong>Mesa Mountain View.</strong>&nbsp;Both teams most likely will be in the 6A playoffs and will both be better later in the season due to some youth, injuries and football players still a little busy in their season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I checked out all three levels with Freshman, JV and varsity.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Here were the standouts on the night&nbsp;</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Freshman Game</strong>&nbsp;(<strong>57-52 Mesa Mountain View won)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2681045' first='Matthew' last='Favreau'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A taller and longer power forward with good upside. He rebounds and blocks shots at a good clip. He smartly keeps the ball high and will outlet and will score with hook shots and in the paint with his left or right hand.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2682496' first='Braden' last='Harvey'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard with skill. He has a quick burst to the rim and is simply fast to the basket. He scores with mid-range jumpers and catch threes with a super quick release. He also has a nice floater game.&nbsp;He scored a team high 16 points. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2682498' first='Banks' last='Wolfe'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A undersized pure point guard is quick on quick. He is the younger brother of former MTV standout<strong> Brigg Wolfe</strong>. He has a floater game and a nice euro step. He sees the court well and can throw the dime. He is very quick with or without the ball.&nbsp;Once he grows up, he will be tougher to handle. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2682499' first='Beau' last='Dyer'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another brother in the program is the younger bro of [player_tooltip player_id='2298362' first='Bradley' last='Dyer']. He is very strong like Bradley and can get downhill with either hand and scored thru the contact. He is a&nbsp;hard working undersized wing&nbsp;forward who gives high effort on both ends of the court. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2682495' first='Henry' last='Fischer'] Hamilton&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard is the top shooter on the freshman team. He has a super clean stroke with a perfect spin on the ball and can rattle them in off the catch or dribble. He moves without the ball and can create a little offense with the ball. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2680984' first='Jayden' last='Lee'] Hamilton&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long wing forward with some athleticism. He will hit the three with a nice shooting stroke and he is a big time rebounder in and out of his area. He leaps up effortlessly and will score on put backs. He runs the floor and shows upside. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Junior Varsity Game (56-46 Mesa Mountain View won)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2337276' first='Brig' last='Standage'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A combo guard is one of the top shooters in the program off the catch from the three point line. His shot looks good every attempt. If he has space and time, he is knocking it down.&nbsp;He is a sneaky good passer and plays a cerebral game. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2681054' first='Jude' last='Rose'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring point guard has a pure stroke from mid to the three point line off the catch or will pull-up. He will euro step to the basket and the ball is on a string for him.&nbsp;He is also tough on the ball defensively with quick hands and feet and will rip pockets in bunches. He handles contact well despite his size and he is a good passer. He scored 19 points. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2681055' first='Jacob' last='Eddy'] Mesa Mountain View </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A combo guard is very fast on the break for layups. He can score with mid-range pull-ups, he can hit the three off the catch and cut when he should for layups. He overplayed the passing lanes and it led to multiple steals and fast break layups. He rebounds well in his area and he is also a sneaky good passer. He scored 16 points. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2149107' first='Sire' last='Saul'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile all-around wing forward. He handles the ball well to get to the basket and can hit the three off the catch or pull.&nbsp;He makes smart reads to his teammates and rebounds in his area. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2107119' first='Cristian' last='Jimenez'] Hamilton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A pure point guard with a very shifty handle. He has an incredible pace to his game and he can create separation. He can hit the three off the catch or pull and is very elusive with a tight handle to get to the basket to score or get fouled. He can also pull-up off the dribble from mid-range and he is a true needle threader who is constantly surveying the scene to assist his teammates.&nbsp;He scored 19 points. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146291' first='Jake' last='Steele'] Hamilton&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile all-around player who can make plays for a teammate. He rebounds well in his area and will cash in on the free throw line. He handles the ball decently, and although he didn't score a lot, he affected the game with his defense and effort.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2681056' first='Camden' last='Lauterbach'] Hamilton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A face-up power forward with good hands and skill. He can shoot it from the perimeter and score with the floater game. He is a strong rebounder and uses his physical frame to attack the glass. He kept many possessions alive.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Varsity Game</strong>&nbsp;<strong>(59-41 Hamilton won)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1366578' first='Davion' last='Harris'] Hamilton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good sized combo guard has a pretty shooting stroke off the catch from the three point line. He gives hard ball fakes and will rise up and shoot it or will fire away the second he gets it. He will drive it to the basket&nbsp;and he rebounds well for his position. He scored 10 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1366585' first='Makai' last='Frazier-Taylor'] Hamilton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A jet-quick combo guard played the role of the lead guard tonight. He drives and kicks it perfectly and will up the court passes.&nbsp;He is very fast to score with speed dribble drives in traffic with his left hand will take a steal and score on the break gliding in the air with his handle and easy bounce. He rebounds well for a guard and will even block a shot timing his opponent. He scored 12 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1430450' first='Elijah' last='Brush'] Hamilton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A high IQ wing forward recently committed to <strong>Geneva College</strong>. He is a sharp shooter from the three point line as he knocked down a couple threes and rebounds well in his area. He talks a lot on defense getting them in the correct spots and he is a smart extra passer as he gives up good shots for better shots for his teammates. He is your classic glue player with skill. He scored 6 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1770356' first='Isaiah' last='Terry'] Hamilton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The older Terry is another that can shoot it. He can score inside using his size for position and pull-up from mid-range. He gets nice elevation on his shot and will rebound with his size and move the ball like you should. He scored 4 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1768202' first='Marquice' last='Cole Jr'] Hamilton </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A top-notch athletic guard plays on or off the ball. He is strong inside to finish and he grabs out of area rebounds with his bounce on the norm. He is a true rebound chaser to get extra possessions for his team. He had multiple and-1's thru the contact, he can hit the catch three, block a shot or make a play. He scored a team high of 13 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2552772' first='Tre' last='Terry'] Hamilton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The young Terry is Dalen Terry's youngest brother. He is a catch and shoot three point gunner. He has an ultimate quick release and needs little space and time to get it off. He made one beautiful no look pass for an assist that even his own teammates didn't expect.&nbsp;He has good feel and is just a gamer once the lights go on. He scored 9 points (3 3's).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2249637' first='Bryson' last='Gundry'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A sharp shooting scoring guard was one of the bright spots shooting the ball for the Toros. He scored a team high 13 points with catch threes and smartly moves off the ball to set up his shot and let it fly. He can ball fake into a pull-up from mid-range and makes smart reads. Stock up for this senior!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1483891' first='Jackson' last='Woolley'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A bigger combo guard with feel and some skill. He can ball fake into a mid-range pull-up&nbsp;and he is very patient in the painted area to score or get fouled.&nbsp;He has quick hands to collect steals and score layups on the end. He will also block shots with his size defending guards and he is a good passer. He scored 8 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2298362' first='Bradley' last='Dyer'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the tougher and stronger players in the East Valley that is not well known. He defends almost all positions with his aggressive nature and physical stature. He uses his strength and length to get on the glass on both sides of the court. collects steals and will block shots. He scores with put backs, mid-range jumpers and will ball fake into a bucket or get fouled.&nbsp;He scored 8 points. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2134291' first='Ty' last='Denham'] Mesa Mountain View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Denham did not get a lot of minutes but he came in off the bench and quickly hit a three off the catch and rebonded the ball in his area. He is a good passer and he is one of the best three point shooters of the team. Next year, look for him to break out. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
