What performances during the first week of the season have made the biggest impressions? Here are a few!

[player_tooltip player_id='2617400' first='Jayden' last='Riley'] (Yorkville Christian) 2026

The stocky and quick guard went for 31 on Tuesday against a ranked St. Ignatius team. Jayden hits tough threes and is hard to keep out of the lane. Jayden is a player who can inch up the rankings this season with consistent play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385286' first='Derek' last='Bishop'] (Mundelein) 2025

I recently wrote about Bishop over the weekend about his dynamic guard play and early on he's making me look good. Derek had to really good games so far with a 30 and 25-point game. He's a plus shooter who can also attack off the dribble and finishes well in the lane. Could be a late D1 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2675607' first='Devon' last='Nangle'] (Bogan) 2025

Was good to see a new player emerge the first week. Nangle is a 6'4 wing player who has good ball skills and body control when driving to the basket. He exploded for 33 points and 11 rebounds on Tuesday. He's an under-the-radar talent who can knock down the mid-range shot when he gets space.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105209' first='Reid' last='Olson'] (Niles North) 2025

One of the better shooters in the state had a big Wednesday night with 33 points. Reid is a lethal shooter who needs just a slither of space to drain shots. Olson committed to Purdue Northwest and will be an instant impact freshman.

[player_tooltip player_id='2416041' first='Brad' last='Blackman'] (Crane) 2026

Blackman is one of the players who I feel should become a household name this season. A long athletic wing player who scores well around the rim. Brad is a competitor and gets after it on defense just as hard as he does on offense. He started the season with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 blocks performance. He followed that up with 22 points and 6 blocks. Brad is a talent that will continue to open eyes this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105266' first='Darien' last='Green'] (Christ the King) 2025

Green is an underrated guard who steps into a lead scoring role this season for Christ The King. He's a big-shot maker and maker. Darien has three-level scoring ability with an emphasis on shooting from three. He started the week with a 25-point performance and followed it up with a 30-point game in a win for the Championship. Small schools have a chance to get in on this player.
