There were a number of remarkable individual performances around the state last week. Below we take a look at eight of the top Class 4A showings from the second week of action in a series that we plan to continue throughout the year, hopefully without too many repeats!

2025 SF [player_tooltip player_id='1381414' first='Jack' last='McCaffery'] (Iowa City West) -- 39 points (17-26 FG, 3-7 3P, 2-3 FT), 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks [vs. Burlington]

The future Butler wing was dominant against the overmatched Grayhounds last week, dropping 39 points on efficient shooting while also controlling the glass. He'll have plenty of big games this season, but the 39 points will be tough to top.

2028 SF [player_tooltip player_id='2595605' first='MarQwan' last='Morgan'] (North Scott) -- 30 points (9-18 FG, 5-6 3P, 7-8 FT), 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals [vs. Muscatine]

One of the best freshmen in the state, Morgan flashed a little bit of everything in his arsenal in a narrow loss to Muscatine last week, scoring 30 points while knocking down several shots from the 3-point line, using his athleticism and handles to get to the rim, and creating quality looks for his teammates off the dribble. A long, athletic, and highly skilled wing who is just scratching the surface of his potential, the sky is the limit for this young man.

2026 C [player_tooltip player_id='1765524' first='Evan' last='Jacobson'] (Waukee) -- 29 points (9-12 FG, 3-4 3P, 8-10 FT), 10 rebounds, 2 blocks [vs. Ankeny]

Already considered one of the top tight end prospects in the country in the 2026 class, Jacobson is also really starting to put everything together on the hardwood for the Warriors. He has great size, length, and athleticism, which he paired with good footwork, soft touch, and a developing jumper to dominate the Hawks last week.

2025 SF [player_tooltip player_id='2397255' first='Cole' last='Odefey'] (Bettendorf) -- 27 points (7-15 FG, 2-7 3P, 11-13 FT), 11 rebounds [vs. Clinton]

A physical and athletic wing who looks to attack the rim constantly, Odefey had a huge scoring night against the River Kings, showing his penchant for the dribble-drive by getting to the free-throw line a ton and converting his freebies at a high clip.

2025 PF [player_tooltip player_id='2721790' first='Andrew' last='Novak'] (Mason City) -- 22 points (9-22 FG, 1-3 3P, 3-4 FT), 17 rebounds (11 offensive) [vs. Des Moines North]

The 6-5 Novak was dominant against the undersized Polar Bears, using his size to dominate the glass, especially on the offensive end of the floor, which certainly helped contribute to his game-high 22 points.

2026 SF [player_tooltip player_id='2731768' first='Christopher' last='Watkins'] (City High) -- 22 points (8-11 FG, 6-6 FT), 12 rebounds (8 offensive), 1 steal [vs. Liberty]

Watkins has been a really pleasant surprise for the Little Hawks early this season, and he was really good in a rivalry game against the Lightning, posting a double-double. An athletic, lanky 6-5 wing who gets to the rim off the bounce, he was great on the glass against Liberty, especially on the offensive end.

2026 PF Charlie Crane (Dowling Catholic) -- 20 points (9-10 FG, 1-1 3P, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 6 blocks [vs. Centennial]

Crane is going to make a pretty lofty debut in the 2026 rankings when they are updated during the holiday break, and his stat line against the Jaguars shows a glimpse into why. A 6-9 rim-runner with great size, athleticism, and touch around the rim, he has been a dominant two-way player for the Maroons to start his junior year.

2025 SF [player_tooltip player_id='1951791' first='Reuben' last='Schlaak'] (Kennedy) -- 19 points (7-13 FG, 3-6 3P, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal [vs. Cedar Rapids Washington]

The Cougars are in need of a secondary scorer to step up and be a consistent threat alongside [player_tooltip player_id='1381415' first='Trey' last='McKowen'], and maybe Schlaak is that player. A 6-3 wing with good length, he was great against the Warriors, scoring from all three levels and using his non-stop motor to control the glass on both ends of the floor.

There were a number of remarkable individual performances around the state last week. Below we take a look at eight of the top Class 4A showings from the second week of action in a series that we plan to continue throughout the year, hopefully without too many repeats!
