[player_tooltip player_id='2370099' first='Kevin' last='Sargeant'] was Mr. MVP of the tournament as Fort Bend Marshall cruised to winning the Cy-Hoops championship over Mansfield Summit. Sargeant almost consistently averaged a double-double over the course of three days during the tourney. Kevin is aggressive in the paint and battles for rebounds with his physicality and uses his athleticism to finish over the top of defenders for easy buckets. He is always in the right spot at the right time and is a good pick and roll weapon for his point guard either rolling to the basket or popping out and shooting a midrange. Kevin has a lot of potential to play at the collegiate level and can be a great hard worker for a program.

Michael was a top-level playmaker for his Waxahachie team in their win over Summer Creek. Gatewood constantly finds his teammates open and is a prolific scorer when the Indians need a bucket. Michael uses speed and shiftiness to beat his matchup and get to his spots on offense. He is fluent in transition and can either make the right pass or contort his body to finish at the rim. This was my first time getting to watch Gatewood and he was very impressive in the way he approaches the game with high IQ and consistent play at the PG slot.

Ife is a big-time finisher at the basket for the Cy Springs squad and shows efficient field goal percentage in the paint. He runs the floor effectively in transition and finishes dunks with authority. He cleans up on the boards nicely and is always in the right position for second chance points. He is disciplined on defense, not biting on pump fakes and blocking opponent shot attempts. He has a long wingspan which allows him to also play passing lanes and grab rebounds over everyone else on the floor.

Jay Duncan was an explosive scoring guard for Cy Creek in their clutch win over CE King. He was not afraid to absorb contact and head to the free throw line, where he cashed in as well as finishing on several and-ones. Duncan is a good hustle player when it comes to putting his body on the line for loose balls and knows how to cut to the basket at the right time, fulfilling his role whenever he is on the court. If he continues to play with this kind of effort, he will be a huge contributor for Creek when it comes to clutch time in the Spring.
