With the high school season getting underway, we at Prep Hoops VA will be taking a look at some previews for the season in each classification. We'll look at both state title contenders, as well as preseason All State teams. Here's a look at our predictions for Preseason Second Team All State for the VHSL 6A classification.

[player_tooltip player_id='2575696' first='Jamison' last='Ross'] | 6'6” SF | Patriot '27

Ross is set to have a breakout season for Patriot as he's gone through a recent growth spurt is already garnering division one interest with his positional size and versatile skillset. At 6'6” he has ball skills on the perimeter to break down defenders and get to the rim where he's a good finisher, he can knock down open shots from deep and he is dynamite in transition as well. He has all the tools to be a two way impact guy, and will be a focal point on a deep Patriot team that could make a run at the whole thing this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1767542' first='Theo' last='Burke'] | 6'0” PG | CG Woodson '25

Burke is part of a talented backcourt, and while his sophomore teammate got the nod for First Team, if the Cavaliers are able to make a deep run he'll be highly considered for All State with the way he runs the show. He's a lead guard who makes very few mistakes as he handles pressure well and gets his team into sets, he can create shots for himself and others off the bounce and he is an efficient scorer both on and off the ball. He'll be a catalyst for this group and his contributions won't go unnoticed if they have the season we're expecting.

[player_tooltip player_id='2340862' first='Jaxson' last='Davis'] | 6'1” PG | Centreville '25

Davis could easily have a First Team type of season, as he's one of the most dynamic scoring guards in the NOVA public schools and will have the green light this year for his team. The 6'1” guard is absolutely dynamic in isolation with a tight handle and shiftiness to break down defenders, he can create space and make tough shots from multiple levels and he's capable of getting hot and taking over games with his scoring ability. Expect him to consistently put up big numbers at Centreville this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916372' first='Damien' last='Robinson'] | 5'10” PG | Landstown '28

While you don't often see freshmen in the All State teams, particularly in the biggest classification of the VHSL, Robinson is not the average freshman as he's been playing up in summer leagues since the sixth grade and will come in ready to be the guy from day one. While he isn't the biggest guy he plays with a fantastic motor and toughness beyond his years, he can knock it down from well beyond the three-point line with ease, he can break defenders down off the bounce and he's extremely confident. We fully expect him to be one of the best guards in the Beach the moment he steps on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2451966' first='Cole' last='Hoffman'] | 6'8” C | Manchester '25

Hoffman played a solid role for a successful Manchester team last year, but this summer he improved almost every time we watched him play, and there won't be many teams they play with someone who can matchup with him in the post. He's a throwback style big who can bury defenders deep and finish over the shoulder, he's become much more aggressive attacking the glass and protecting the rim, and he can work in face ups out to the elbows too. Expect him to average around a double-double on the season if he continues how he played this summer.

[play

[player_tooltip player_id='1966646' first='Noah' last='Barnhart'] | 6'1” PG | James Robinson '26

Barnhart was an All Region selection as a sophomore, and comes back this year as one of the top guards in NOVA public schools and even more confidence to build on moving forward. The 6'1” guard is a pit-bull on both Neds that oozes toughness with his all-out style of play, he's a good athlete with a quick first step and the ability to create space, he scores it from multiple levels and he sets the tone on both ends. He's capable of going toe-to-toe with the best of the best and won't back down from any big time matchup.

[player_tooltip player_id='2252294' first='Jemon' last='Price'] | 6'2” CG | Westfield '26

Price is part of a deep and balanced Westfield group that will have a chance to make a run both this year and next year, and he's the type of guy that could be an absolute star for a lesser team with ease in the area. The 6'2” combo is smooth as they come as he can break down defenders and is great making decisions in transition, he can make an array of shots off the bounce, is a deadly shooter from deep and only gets better when he's matched up with top tier talent. If the Bulldogs can make a deep run this year he'll see his stock rise quite a bit.
