Caledonia and La Crescent were both 13-1 teams in the league last year but this season Caledonia seems to be the team with the most back and the biggest ceiling for this winter.

Conference Commentary

Top Ten in State: Caledonia, Rushford-Peterson

The Warriors had the best overall record from the league last season and they were the league's top scoring team. They finished 13-1 in conference play tied with La Crescent-Hokah. And there are only five returning all conference players in the entire league, and Caledonia has FOUR of them. This team is the massive favorite in this league and they are a top three team in state entering the season.

Rushford-Peterson won 21 games last season and they return six of their top eight players including the team's next major standout [player_tooltip player_id='2126149' first='Cayden' last='Lea']. With this much talent returning combined with the experience of a tough league, we think they can make a run at the state tournament this year and they should be a top ten team.

Top Ten Potential: La Crescent-Hokah

La Crescent-Hokah got a win against Caledonia last year and they won 20 games. They lost their top guy but the team has two starters back and most of their reserves. They might not be quite what they were last year but its possible. They are in a next group of teams from about 15 to 30 in Class AA that could be a very good team if the chemistry is right.

Compete with Most: Winona Cotter, Fillmore Central, St. Charles, Wabasha-Kellogg, Dover-Eyota, PEM, Chatfield

Winona Cotter has a couple starters back from a 17 win team that should continue to make them a competitive team. They lost their all league players so they might be as strong but they should still be a solid to good team. Fillmore Central lost their top two scorers but they are a team with size and returning guards so they should win 16 more games. FC had a rough league record but the East was really good last year! FC was the worst team in the East and they win 16 games! St. Charles lost their best two players but return everybody else so they should be a double figure win team or close to it.

Wabasha-Kellogg returns their second leading scorer and three starters overall from a team that was 12-16. The Falcons could take a step forward but how big will that step be? That is the question. Dover-Eyota was a ten win team a year ago but there is a step forward coming, but how big? Dover-Eyota has some good up and coming young talent as their best players returning are juniors and sophomores. Plainview/Elgin-Millville returns half of their rotation from a nine win team but they lost their top scorer. Tough to know how much they can take as far as improving steps forward. Chatfield was just a three win team last year but they should be better with three of their top four players returning.

Caledonia and La Crescent were both 13-1 teams in the league last year but this season Caledonia seems to be the team with the most back and the biggest ceiling for this winter.
