"Last year, the Hawks ended the year with a 5-19 record after playing in a loaded EDC. We experienced a season of growth playing a lot of young players throughout the season. We began the year losing to teams by 25-30 points in some early games but ended the year playing those same teams really tough and cutting the deficit to 5-point games. The highlight of our season was winning the play-in game and getting to experience the EDC Tournament for the first time."   PHD: Who will be your primary ballhandler this year?   "We have a plethora of guards on our team and the majority of our guys feel comfortable with the ball in their hands. If we had to pick one guy to be our true point guard, [player_tooltip player_id='1680906' first='Aiden' last='Green'] has shown that we can rely on him to handle the ball against some of the top guards in the EDC picking him up full-court. [player_tooltip player_id='1651919' first='Ryder' last='Majkrzak'] is a combo guard we can see backing up AG and [player_tooltip player_id='1327797' first='Carter' last='Evanson'] will definitely have the ball in his hands when AG needs a breather."   PHD: How did the off-season go for your team/program?   "We had a busy off-season this summer between lifting, summer skills, and team camps. The off-season has continued through Fall lifting in the weight room and open gym once a week. With football season coming to a close we plan to have open gym twice a week to get our fall sport athletes back in the gym."   PHD: Who are a few of your top players?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1189404' first='Brady' last='Westphal'] is looking to have a big impact his senior season, [player_tooltip player_id='1327797' first='Carter' last='Evanson'] is a returning All-Conference player for the Hawks, [player_tooltip player_id='1680906' first='Aiden' last='Green'] is a sophomore with two varsity seasons under his belt, but there are still a lot of spots up for grabs. We have a crew of juniors who have put a lot of blood and sweat into improving in the weight room and getting shots up. We have a lot of talented underclassmen that are looking for playing time but will have to beat guys out in practice and show that they are physically strong enough to hang."   PHD: Who are a couple of up-and-comers to look out for?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1651918' first='Brett' last='Livingston'] is a long sophomore who had a great off-season for us. We expect him to play heavy minutes for us this season."   "[player_tooltip player_id='1541297' first='Kaiden' last='Peterson'] played more varsity minutes for us at the end of last season, he had a great grassroots season and has made huge strides in the weight room this fall. We expect him to play a lot as well. Juniors, [player_tooltip player_id='1798699' first='Jett' last='Collins'], [player_tooltip player_id='1632741' first='Tyler' last='Hjelmstad'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1798697' first='Austin' last='Ohleen'], are juniors that played JV last year and worked hard this off-season to get a chance to compete for varsity minutes. [player_tooltip player_id='1651920' first='Owen' last='Terras'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1651919' first='Ryder' last='Majkrzak'] have shown that they have talent and an impressive feel for the game. They should also be competing for playing time."   PHD: Who do you think will be your top interior players?   "Our inside presence will consist of sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1651918' first='Brett' last='Livingston'] and Senior [player_tooltip player_id='2538772' first='Cole' last='Summerville']. We also have a few guards we will try to post when given the opportunity."   PHD: What are the goals for the team this year?   "This year we have goals to win a home game and have an end-of-the-season record of .500 or better."   PHD: Who will be your hardest worker?   "The expectation this year is that EVERYONE is our hardest worker. We will have a few extrinsic team awards for our hardest worker and best teammate at the end of games."   PHD: Who are the top teams in the EDC?   "The EDC is wide open this year!"   PHD: Any last comments about the upcoming season?   "We are less than a month away! Going into year 2 as the HC for the Hawks I've never been more excited for a group like I am right now!" They had a down year in 23-24 but PHD is thinking they will bounce back this winter. With [player_tooltip player_id='2132815' first='Dawsen' last='Volmer'], [player_tooltip player_id='2475729' first='Cole' last='Kieffer'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2475727' first='Aksel' last='Ehlers'], the Raiders will be a scary team on the offensive side of the ball. "Lyman was very young last year and gained valuable experience. We steadily improved as the season progressed."   PHD: Who will be your primary ballhandler this year?   "[player_tooltip player_id='2475722' first='MJ' last='Diehm']:  MJ has many very good attributes and plays year-round.  He started all of our games at point guard last year as a Freshman."   PHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program?   "We try to play all year. Especially in the Summer with Camps, Clinics, and individual workouts. Being a year older will assist with our size and strength."   PHD: Who are your top players? PHD: What goals do you have for the season?   "Be competitive in most of our games, compete at a high level in all games, and inspire joy and fun in the game."   PHD: Who will be your hardest worker?   "All around, this is a good group who are very coachable and work hard as a team."   PHD: Who are the top teams in your Region?   "White River, Wall, Gregory, Sully Buttes, Stanley County  (History, Experience, Program)."   PHD: Any last comments about the upcoming season?   "We are excited and enthusiastic about the upcoming season. We will still be very young but have a nice mix with two seniors. This group is putting in the work to be successful. A very coachable group of young men."
