Here is a look back at the top shooters from The EXPO: Illinois camp in Plainfield.

[player_tooltip player_id='2617411' first='Kaleb' last='Istvanik'] (Downers Grove South) 2026

Great showing for Kaleb at the event. He went on a tear from behind the line, running off several 3's in his first 5 on-5 games. At 6'3 he has solid size already for college. With two years to play if he grows Istavanik could play himself into a scholarship at a college.

[player_tooltip player_id='2617384' first='Donte' last='Montgomery Jr']. (Oak Lawn) 2025

Montgomery Is a smooth-scoring guard who mades several shots from well beyond the arc. He's a slick handling guard who is tough to keep out of the lane. Montgomery is a three-level scorer but a major part of his game is his shooting. Donte will be a coveted prospect in the 2025 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2617367' first='Cason' last='Newton'] (Byron) 2026

Newton had maybe one of the most interesting shooting strokes in the event but he made it. When getting into his shot Cason gets a lot of elevation. As it is a sight to see, he makes the shot routinely. Newton is an energetic guard who can pass as well especially when on the move. If he's not shooting threes then Cason looks to attack. A player to keep track of for 2026.

[player_tooltip player_id='2617349' first='Aiden' last='Derose'] (Homewood Flossmoor) 2025

Derose is a name that we saw burn the nets this summer on our Prep Hoops Circuit. He's a big scoring guard who did some damage shooting threes at the Expo. Aiden has a decent handle to get enough separation on his shot. He has a clean release when he has time. Derose is another talented player who will fight for playing time on a deep Vikings team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2617385' first='Drew' last='Lundberg'] (West Aurora) 2026

I believe Drew may be one of the most underrated shooters in the state. At 6'4 he shoots the rock with so much confidence. Lundberg gets his feet set and locked on the target once the ball touches his hands. Should have a big season playing alongside [player_tooltip player_id='2125687' first='Travis' last='Brown'] at West Aurora.
