So Cal Fall Prep Classic: Supporting Cast

The So Cal Fall Prep Classic at Santiago Canyon Community College was held September 28-29. NorCal had 6 or 7 teams make the trip to SoCal for this preseason event. It was an opportunity to see prospects who may not be the top players on their teams, but will play a key role in the teams success.    He needs to polish up his foot work, and post skills, but does have some tools to work with. He's deliberate, plays best off two feet when balanced, gathering himself, then powering up. He can use 1-2 dribbles from the mid, and high post. Standing 6'8 with a solid body he can be a factor defending in the paint. He's aware, takes up space, still learning how to take advantage of his body. He rebounds, sets screens to free up guards, he moves the ball around the perimeter.       He's standing 6'9 has the frame to add bulk. He's making progress, playing with more effort, hustling back on defense trying to prevent easy baskets. When shot goes up he's making the effort to get rebounds, and put back points. He's making good passes from the high and mid-post areas, he's setting solid screens to free up his guards. He'll change and disrupt shots on defense.     We like the energy Lockhart brings to the court. He'll be a contributor because of the way he plays on the court, he needs to sharpen his skill set. He uses strength and toughness playing defense around the basket, going after blocks and rebounds. He has power going up inside, he runs the court staying wide. He'll shoot corner 3's if open, he used his dribble on occasion.     He has a good size body, and wingspan to be an effective post defender. He denies, moves his feet, works from side to side arms extended to prevent easy post entry passes. He has vision and excellent passing moving the ball from side to side, he finds cutters going to the basket, shooters along the perimeter. He works well from the high and mid post using a dribble or two to get closer. He sets screens to free up guards.     Gish has grown to his present height in a short time, 6'7. He's probably still growing with a frame to fill, with that being said, he's showing a versatile improving skill set. He's already known to be a good 3pt shooter, who can handle and pass in the open court. He's working a bit closer to the basket on defense, giving good effort defending in the post, using his length, hands up straight to distract shooters, he's boxing out. His rebounding numbers will go up.     He's a long wiry prospect with a body to build. He has good fundamental post skills. He doesn't spend all of his time in the post, though he does have the length, and positions himself to be a target to receive and finish with jump hooks, jumpers, and other moves for paint points. At the top he moves the ball around the perimeter, makes cuts through the lane, he finds cutters to the basket. He has a long reach to disrupt in the paint, shooters on the perimeter. He'll get his fair share of rebounds.
