The South Dakota 2028 class offers a plethora of size and length, with a good amount of true Bigs, 4's, and long wings. There's a lot of 2028's that are around the 6'4”-6'5” range. With most of them, how they grow physically will be a major determinant in there future ranking and recruitment. In this article, we evaluate six prospects with great size and length.

Zimmerman was an unknown to me before the Dakotas Freshman Showcase. He was tabbed as the top breakthrough prospect from the large event. He has extremely long arms at 6'4”. He was a rim-protecting shot-blocker and rebounder that can jump. Showed some offensive versatility with the ability to hit a jumper. Was able to make some off-balance finishes and shots. Andrew is a high-upside prospect in the class that we'll be following.

Brink was the starting Big/Forward for [program_tooltip program_id='2222672' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy']'s third 14U team. He will crash the boards and compete for the ball at the rim. Offers a soft shooting touch in the paint. Has a quick spin-off move off his opponents shoulder to create some separation in the paint. It's a great and effective go-to move for him. He's 6'2”, so he could become a four if he can develop shooting range.

Jones is a true Big that was moved up to the Freshman/Sophomore team for Spearfish last season. Runs well up and down the court. Plays with toughness and a motor. He will seal his man hard in the post, looking for an entry pass. Crashes the boards, getting deep near the rim area. He makes it a point to find a body to box out on the defensive end. He'll contest shooters hard on the perimeter. He did have a little trouble staying in front on the perimeter drive. Jones is most likely a top 25 prospect in the class, with room for upside if he continues to grow taller. To be considered a college prospect he'll need to grow because he's not a jump-shooter.

Wolf-Donat is a very exciting and intriguing prospect to me that impressed this offseason with [program_tooltip program_id='2337876' first='James' last='Valley Thunder']-Skoglund. He has great size and length as a power wing/F, and is one of the top athletes in the class. An impressive combination of length, muscular frame, and can move and jump at a high level. He's the definition of versatility, as he can literally play all over the court, but I wouldn't pin him as a true point guard. But he can board-and-go and push the ball up in transition. He's a legitimate wing defender and can hold his own guarding size in the paint. The most surprising skill of his is that he already has a legitimate three-ball. Will catch and shoot from the wing/corner and it has a good chance of dropping for three points. He also showed offensive versatility by being able to get to the rim fairly easily and finish with contact by using his jumping ability at the hoop. For [program_tooltip program_id='2337876' first='James' last='Valley Thunder'] 14U-Skoglund, Brennan was by far in a way the go-to guy and difference-maker. He did a lot of heavy lifting for the team on both ends. His next-level projectory ultimately depends on how tall he gets. I think he can be a versatile wing because he's so fluid as an athlete. Or if he has a huge growth spurt, he could translate to a long, athletic four-man that can shoot the trey and defend size. I think he's a top 15 prospect in this class by what we know so far about the class.

I've only seen Alderhold twice online with [program_tooltip program_id='2338386' first='Dakota' last='Niners'] At the Prep Hoops Next NHR State Tournament, so I can't speak much on him quite yet. But he does offer great size, toughness, and motor as a Big. He's 6'4” and can really jump and get off the ground — playing well above the competition. He's a very good finisher at the hoop that doesn't get fancy at the rim, but will make a direct move and drop-step at the hoop. He's similar to Jones of Spearfish, but I think Alherhold runs better and is a better leaper/athlete. Top 15 prospect in the class that will need to continue to grow taller.

Ethan offers great size for his age group at 6'5”. He has a steady motor and seems like a hard-working kid. He's got some development to go in areas of his game and coordination. Played with Sanford's second team, where he was a reserve player that served as an interior presence. Was very consistent in his effort that didn't take plays off and was focused.
