LAS VEGAS — The Border League has established itself as the premier fall high school/prep school basketball event on the west coast and the 2024 edition was no different. The event features many of the top high school and prep school prospects from around the country in a high level hoops showcase. We were in attendance at Coronado and Desert Pines high schools over the weekend and below are some of the most versatile prospects we watched over the weekend.

Aliou Dioum | CIA Bella Vista (AZ)

The 6-foot-10 forward/center embodies versatility on both ends of the floor with his inside-out scoring package and ability to defend in a variety of situations. Dioum has the timing, length and reaction and recovery time to serve as a viable rim protector and he can also execute ball screen coverages with his mobility on the perimeter.

Jermaine O'Neal, Jr. | Dynamic Prep (TX)

O'Neal is a 6-foot-5 wing with a strong frame that allows him to play a physical brand of basketball in transition and half-court offense. The SMU-commit is best when attacking the rim and using his strength to bully through defenders to score in the lane and he has the vertical athletic pop to elevate and finish over the top of rim protectors. What makes O'Neal a versatile prospect is his budding perimeter scoring prowess in catch and shoot situations.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630618' first='Nik' last='Khamenia'] | Harvard-Westlake

Khamenia, who recently committed to Duke, uses his combination of size, skill and basketball IQ to control and/or take over games in a variety of ways. The 6-foot-8 forward can score from all three levels of the floor, initiate and create offense for teammates in a point-forward role and serve as a glue-type guy with his willingness to do the things that don't show up in a box score.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297118' first='Trent' last='Sisley'] | Montverde Academy (FL)

Sisley is a skilled 6-foot-7 wing/forward whose size and feel for the game allow him to impact the game in multiple aspects. Sisley showed a hunger to pursue rebounds on the offensive and defensive glass, finished skillfully and physically around the basket, flashed high level vision out of the low and high post areas and stretched the floor to the three-point line.

[player_tooltip player_id='1936514' first='Trey' last='Simpson'] III | DME Academy (FL)

Simpson is the definition of an elite athlete on the basketball court. The explosive 6-foot-7 senior wing/forward guards multiple positions, protects the rim, has switchability on the perimeter in ball screen situations and just simply plays hard. That energy and effort shows on the offensive end with his face-up and drive ability. His quick first step allows him to gain a downhill advantage over defenders and his acceleration helps him blow-by and finish at the rim.
