2025 Class 1A Elite 8

The 2024-25 High School Basketball Season is near! Over the next few weeks Prep Hoops SC will begin to preview the players and teams that you need to watch for this Winter, including the 2025 Class 1A Elite 8. This preview will go in-depth on the 8 highest-ranked Seniors in Class 1A. This list is composed of uncommitted prospects with various archetypes who all deserve a shot at the next level. Take a look at the prospects in this year's 2025 Class 1A Elite 8:   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    Topping the 2025 Class 1A Elite 8 is [player_tooltip player_id='1225770' first='Joshua' last='Goodman']. Goodman now plays for Denmark-Olar in 1A Region 4 after moving from Hampton County High School. He was an important piece for the Hurricanes helping them make the 2A Lower State Championship Game while averaging 6.9 Points Per Game on 67% FG shooting. Joshua is a do-it-all wing who will score around the paint, make plays for others, crash the glass, and do his job on the defensive end. Goodman is a versatile defender and will often be used on ball-dominant guards or at the top of zones so that his length can affect the game.     Next up is [player_tooltip player_id='1350733' first='Trey' last='Sutton'] of 1A Region 1's Calhoun Falls Charter. Sutton is a forward with good position size and an ability to score inside and out. He has shown good skill in working with his back to the basket but he can also faceup and shoot from the free-throw line and beyond. Trey will have the offense run through him on a consistent basis and he is usually pretty efficient in scoring. He also works hard to protect the rim with his length on the defensive end of the floor.     [player_tooltip player_id='1951732' first='Terrance' last='Hinton'] is the second Viking to make the 2025 1A Elite 8. Terrance is a three-sport athlete at Denmark-Olar High School and was both All-Region and All-State on the basketball court last year, averaging a team-high 18.2 Points Per Game and 4.2 Assists Per Game. Hinton is a speedy lefty who is a confident scorer from anywhere on the floor. He is a very good three-point shooter but also has a nasty crossover which he uses to beat defenders in the half-court. He will play both positions in the backcourt this winter and should be in for a monster Senior Year.     Fourth on the list is [player_tooltip player_id='1749270' first='Stetson' last='Stack']. Stack attends North High School who are in 1A Region 3. In 2023-24, he had a terrific year averaging 20.8 Points Per Game and 4.4 Steals Per Game while helping the Eagles make the Upper State Championship. He has been steadily rising in the 2025 Rankings because of his ability to knock down the perimeter shot. Stack has a compact release that he gets up quickly. He can hit spot-up on the outside, hit movement threes, and pull-up in the mid-range. Stetson has quick, strong hands that he uses to frequently force turnovers on the defensive end, balancing out his game to be a two-way difference maker.     Next up is [player_tooltip player_id='1372635' first='Tyrek' last='Wright'] of McBee High School in 1A Region 2. Wright put up 13.4 Points Per Game on 49% shooting from the field in 2023-24. He does a good job of balancing scoring and making plays for teammates. Tyrek is at his best in transition, usually after grabbing defensive rebounds or forcing turnovers. He has good speed, ball handling, and is smart enough to know when to finish or when to dump off to an open player.     [player_tooltip player_id='2207706' first='Tykeem' last='Ross'] makes the list at #110, meaning Denmark-Olar is the only school to have 3 players in the 2025 Elite 8. The Vikings return several productive players, including Ross, and should be one of the teams to beat in 1A. In 2023-24, he averaged a double-double at 16.2 Points Per Game and 11.4 Rebounds Per Game. He has a big frame that is prone to being physical around the paint on both ends of the floor. Ross is also pretty athletic and can finish over or around defenders near the rim.     [player_tooltip player_id='2044353' first='Micah' last='Flute'] was a recent standout at the SCBCA Elite Camp. He has good length at 6'8" and should be a matchup nightmare for most teams in 1A. He attends Cross High School which plays in 1A Region 5 and made the Lower State Championship last year. Micah was an important player throughout that run averaging 5.9 Points Per Game and 8.3 Rebounds Per Game. Flute is versatile and mobile on the defensive end of the floor and his length is helpful in forcing turnovers and protecting the rim.     Rounding off the 2025 Class 1A Elite is [player_tooltip player_id='1888745' first='Damarcus' last='Leach']. He plays in 1A Region 1 for Abbeville High School who I think could be in the conversation in March. Damarcus did a lot of the dirty work for the Panthers, averaging 7.4 Points Per Game, 11.6 Rebounds Per Game, and 2.1 Blocks Per Game. He is a great athlete and plays the game through contact, two attributes that transfer over well from his main sport. Leach is committed to the University of South Carolina for football.
