The 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo took place on Sunday, September 8th in Rock Hill, South Carolina featuring some of the best 2025s, 2026s, and 2027s in North and South Carolina. After warming up with some 3v3 action, the players were divided into twenty teams for two 5v5 games. Check out my evaluations of the five South Carolina prospects from Team 20 at the 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo:

#271 [player_tooltip player_id='2367667' first='Joshua' last='JT Vankallen'] (Ridge View) - Vankallen was one of the highest-ranked prospects from South Carolina's 2027 Class in attendance at the Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo this weekend. JT has a strong frame and is active around the paint on both ends of the floor. He also has a very impressive second bounce which helps him get second and third opportunities on the offensive glass. Vankallen is a very versatile defender who can guard 1-5 because of his size and determination in the paint and foot quickness and active hands on the perimeter.

#321 [player_tooltip player_id='2149162' first='Josh' last='Helms'] (Rock Hill) - Josh is an intriguing guard prospect from nearby Rock Hill High School. He provided lots of spacing to the Team 20 offense because defenses were scared to help off him and leave him open. Helms knocked down a couple of corner threes, but also showed he could make plays off the dribble attacking closeouts and rotations. He has good length for his age and is confident shooting over defenders his size and smaller.

#329 [player_tooltip player_id='2361714' first='Jonathan' last='Perry'] (Christ Church) - I was impressed with Perry in both the 3v3 and 5v5 games. His defense translated to both game styles as he is a very capable on-ball defender and doesn't need help often because he moves his feet really well. Jonathan's offensive game was slightly different in the two portions of the camp, though. In 3v3, he had the ball in his hands a little more and showed off a knack for getting to his spots and pulling up in the mid-range, while in 5v5 he attacked closer to the rim and did a good job of playing through contact.

#364 [player_tooltip player_id='2173809' first='Jarvis' last='Roper'] (Cane Bay) - Jarvis was one of the hardest workers for Team 20 and made key plays for them on both ends of the floor. He is a wing with good length who was active in passing lanes forcing several turnovers leading to transition buckets. Roper has good instincts on the defensive end and can finish with either hand on the offensive end. He will also crash the glass to secure possession and earn second-chance points for his squad.

#799 [player_tooltip player_id='2367673' first='Sebi' last='Boyogueno'] (Riverside) - There was not much Sebi didn't do in Rock Hill. From high-flying alley-oops to perimeter shooting to key playmaking, Boyogueno was one of the best all-around prospects that I saw during the 5 on 5 section at the Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo. He has good size and a strong physical frame as well, showing an ability to finish through contact and earning multiple three-point plays. Overall, Sebi is oozing with talent and athletic ability, but he just needs to add the feel for making the correct play and increased defensive engagement to become a can't-miss prospect at the next level.
