The 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo took place on Sunday, September 8th in Rock Hill, South Carolina featuring some of the best 2025s, 2026s, and 2027s in North and South Carolina. After warming up with some 3v3 action, the players were divided into twenty teams for two 5v5 games. Check out my evaluations of the seven South Carolina prospects from Team 9 at the 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo:

#287 [player_tooltip player_id='2394115' first='Johnston' last='Abrams'] (Spartanburg) - Spartanburg's [player_tooltip player_id='2394115' first='Johnston' last='Abrams'] leads off my set of evaluations from Team 9. He was a positive factor on both ends of the floor this weekend. Johnston displayed quick hands on the defensive end of the floor picking the pocket of ball handlers. He was a valuable playmaker for his team as well due to his combination of speed, feel for the game, and shooting ability in the mid-range and behind the arc.

#292 [player_tooltip player_id='2561034' first='Dwayne' last='Patterson'] Jr (Spring Valley) - Patterson Jr showed off some premier shooting ability at the Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo. He was always shot-ready off the ball and had a quick release on spot-up threes. Dwayne filled it up quickly with multiple games with a made three.

#294 [player_tooltip player_id='2149126' first='Charlie' last='Henson'] (River Bluff) - Charlie was a guard who showed off a good handle for Team 9. He kept control of the rock in tight spaces and pushed the pace in transition. Henson reads the game well looking for holes in the defense to find his teammates. He is also capable of spotting up off the ball and knocking down threes or attacking closeouts.

#297 [player_tooltip player_id='1578601' first='Darnell' last='Drummond'] (Westminster Catawba Christian School) - [player_tooltip player_id='1578601' first='Darnell' last='Drummond'] was a hometown prospect, playing his High School ball for nearby Westminster Catawba Christian School. He was fully committed to his defensive responsibilities all day long as he was the only player I saw take a charge. He has good foot quickness as well and was an effective stopper on the ball. Darnell is also a more than capable perimeter weapon. He doesn't need much time or space to get his shot off and had several makes from downtown on Sunday.

#340 [player_tooltip player_id='2561107' first='Jamari' last='Harmon'] (Irmo) - Harmon is a 2026 Wing who participated at the Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo this weekend. He is a good athlete who has a soft touch on close-range shots. Jamari stayed active off the ball relocating around the three-point line or cutting through the center of the defense. He is a solid defender and did a good job of using his long arms in help.

#341 [player_tooltip player_id='2564154' first='Jace' last='Shaw'] (Mauldin) - [player_tooltip player_id='2564154' first='Jace' last='Shaw'] was one of the main ball-handling options on Team 9. He is very fast with the ball in his hands and shows a knack for getting past defenders. Shaw creates lots of scoring opportunities with his balance for creating for himself and others. He had an impressive stretch in one of his 5v5 games where he knocked down a tough stepback three and pull-up three in back-to-back possessions.

#561 [player_tooltip player_id='1970097' first='AJ' last='Jeter'] (Newberry) - AJ held down the paint for his team in Rock Hill. He did a good job of working around and through the multitude of bodies in the lane on both ends of the floor controlling the glass, hustling for loose balls, and finishing despite contact. Jeter has soft hands to catch the ball with his back to the basket or off the rim and has a good feel for hand-offs around the perimeter.
