The Prep Hoops VA Expo took place at Rock It Sports in Richmond on Sunday, September 31, with players from all over the state ranging from seniors to sophomores attending to compete and get their names out there.

It was a great day of competition with 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games played intensely throughout the day. Here's a look at part one of the many 2027 standouts from the event.

Tabren Hawkins | 6'1” WG | Maury

Hawkins was impressive this summer with Loaded 757 showing he'll be one of the top guards in the Hampton Roads area in a few years, and playing against older players was no problem for him at the camp as well. The 6'1” guard was particularly great in the 3-on-3 portion showcasing his ability to work in isolation and get to spots, he finished well through contact, he made shots from multiple levels and he was no slouch defensively either.

[player_tooltip player_id='2470573' first='Cam' last='Claiborne'] | 5'11” PG | John Marshall

Claiborne had flashes as a freshman on John Marshall's nationally ranked team last year, and he showed at the Expo that he is one of the top guards in his class in the entire state. He's a crafty guard who is shifty off the bounce and can touch the paint easily, he can move off the ball where he can make shots at a high clip from deep, he is a very good finisher over bigger defenders and through traffic and he has great instincts on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2548299' first='Isaiah' last='Savage'] | 6'0” WG | St. Michael's

Savage was maybe the breakout player of the entire camp, as he came into the camp unranked and left with everyone talking about how much upside he has as a true sophomore who is just scratching the surface with how good he can be. He's a top tier level athlete who plays above the rim with ease and authority, he showed the ability to make shots off the catch, he was scrappy and used his athleticism defensively to make plays and he showed he's oozing with potential moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1987443' first='Jaden' last='Amoah'] | 5'9” PG | Colgan

Amoah is another guard in the 2027 class that made a name for himself at the Expo, and he seems like the type of floor general that will make Colgan tough to beat in the next few years. He's a high IQ and savvy guard that doesn't get sped up and sees the floor very well, he sets the tone defensively with his ball pressure and quick hands, he can stretch the defense and make shots from deep and he lives in the paint as a playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id='2353640' first='Amare' last='Long'] | 6'0” WG | Miller School

Long is a prospect to keep an eye on down the road for Miller School, as he'll be matched up with some of the top players in the state every day and that should help him develop his already impressive skillset for his age. His length and frame indicates that he's nowhere near done growing, he's already a good athlete with burst and good leaping ability, he can knock down shots when he's left open and he makes an impact on the defensive end too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2492524' first='Jayden' last='Pillot'] | 6'1” WG | John Champe

Pillot was another player from NOVA who impressed at the Expo and is very intriguing down the road, as he is likely still growing and he knows how to play without needing the ball in his hands. He shot the ball well from deep off the catch, he showed the savvy to make reads and cuts off the ball to get open for easy shots, he finished well when he got downhill and in a camp setting where some can be selfish he seemed very easy to play with.

[player_tooltip player_id='2548307' first='Logan' last='Brooks'] | 6'2” WG | John Paul the Great

Brooks showed a lot of upside at the camp as he's already got great size and is a good athlete with a solid base skillset to go along with it. He's a natural and fluid athlete who runs the floor and has the ability to beat defenders off the dribble, he made an array of shots from different levels and angles and he has a lot of upside as a lock down defender moving forward.
