Film Room: DII-Class A East

Every full game or highlight package represents the 2023-2024 basketball season.  <strong>Film Room: Division II-Class A East Prospects!</strong> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2527305' first='Caden' last='Owens'] (CAK) <a href="https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/christian-academy-of-knoxville-knoxville-tn/gam65010f1ee5">FILM:</a></strong> In a hunt for [player_tooltip player_id='1528672' first='Brogdon' last='Lundgren'], I connected with [player_tooltip player_id='2527305' first='Caden' last='Owens'] (CAK) on Twitter Saturday afternoon.  He informed me that Brogdon is on CAK and entering his junior year.  When watching CAK games and highlights from 2023-2024, it became obvious that [player_tooltip player_id='2527305' first='Caden' last='Owens'] is also a college prospect.  Standing 6-foot-5 or 6-foot-6, Caden is a very reliable outside shooter.  The team actually ran some action to get him looks during his junior year.  Owens was a little timid in the linked film attacking the offensive glass, which was mildly concerning. While he certainly thrives as a shooting guard, there is no conceivable reason for him to be an average to below average offensive rebounder unless he shot the basketball from 20' himself.  With his height and athleticism, playing DII-A it all comes down to grit. which Owens has in other aspects of the game.  To open the second half, Owens hit a challenging mid-range jumper dribbling into it.  He also converted a smooth reverse, left-handed layup.  As a junior, Owens averaged 16 ppg, 5 rpg. He will be able to play at some level beyond high school if his current trajectory holds. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2573814' first='Luke' last='Gilmer'] (Providence Academy-Johnson City) <a href="https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/christian-academy-of-knoxville-knoxville-tn/gam65010f1ee5">FILM:</a></strong> Bouncy, athletic. As a freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2573814' first='Luke' last='Gilmer'] played a bit of a forward spot standing 6-foot-2.  He was one of six freshmen to dress varsity, and Luke played some real minutes ultimately averaging 7.9 ppg and 4.4 rebounds per night. <strong>Bryson White (CAK) <a href="https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/christian-academy-of-knoxville-knoxville-tn/gam65010f1ee5">FILM:</a> </strong> Scrappy. In this game Bryson was low priority offensively.
