Ryze Hoops Fall League Standouts: Week 1 (Part 1)

RYZE Hoops Fall League is an open invitational for grassroots programs and high school teams. The 7-week tournament, held at Lakepoint Sports Complex, gives teams a chance to maximize their off-season, continue to display talent, and better prepare for the upcoming season. Week 1 did not disappoint with breakout performances mixed with familiar names– creating a competitive atmosphere RYZE Hoops consistently delivers.
Bass Boner finished with 8 points in their loss to Patriots Academy. He experienced offensive struggles early but remained aggressive on the defensive end racking up 2 steals and 2 blocks. Despite a tough day at the office, he remained confident and took care of the ball. Despite the uncharacteristic scoring woes, Bass-Bonner stayed impactful with high leadership qualities. He also dominated the boards with 10 rebounds. His effort and court presence shined through the disappointing outcome.

matched his running mate, Bonner with 8 points and 2 steals. Chandler excelled in the open court decision-making with an emphasis on body and ball control. Chandler was intentional in attacking the defenders resulting in good looks at the basket in the painted area. He has great ball control and doesn’t shy away from contact. Chandler also takes on more of a combo guard role with multiple possessions as the ball handler in the half-court. Despite the loss, he remained one top players with a mature level of skill and technique.

scored 20 points in a 35-39 victory over OTP North, contributing 11 of the team’s 16 points in the first half. The Canada-born player showcased skillful aggressiveness in controlling every facet of the game. Despite it being his first year in the States, the emerging senior demonstrates an exceptionally high level of court awareness, scoring ability, and ball-handling skills. Omed exhibited top-tier decision-making by maintaining a fluid playmaking style, involving his teammates, and making smart shot choices despite his ability to easily drive to the basket.

Hollis had 8 points in their win over OTP North. He was able to get at the basket using his strength with a great touch in his finishes, a very rare combination. He displayed elite athleticism with a massive poster dunk over multiple defenders. Hollis is very skilled around the perimeter, knows how to make himself available as a scoring option, and plays within the flow of the game. He had a huge impact on both sides of the second half and was a contributing factor in the clutch moments needed in the 35-39 victory.

Preston is primed to replace his brother, Jackson who is on his way to OTE this year. Contradictory to his brother, Preston displays more of a traditional center role. He uses size and height make him an automatic enforcer on defense. His determination to keep his opponents away from the paint and secure the rebound gives Gilmer the ability to play freely on the offense. His intangible contribution allows room for him to get the on-court experience necessary for the 7-footer’s development.
