Preston consistently beat his matchup by picking and popping from the top of the key or muscling his way to the rim via post up against contact. McVey runs the floor surprisingly well for his size and is not an opponent to take lightly, especially when he catches it on the low block in isolation coverage. He can block smaller guards shots when they attempt to drive into the lane and his physical, bulky frame comes into play when fighting for rebounds on either end.

McVey is a load to handle inside. The burly post presence uses his size and strength to establish deep seals in the paint where he becomes extremely effective offensively. Preston scores comfortably with either hand and flashes a polished left-handed hook shot around the basket.

His physicality wears opponents down over the course of games, especially through his ability to dominate the offensive glass and generate second-chance points. McVey is most impactful in halfcourt settings where he can anchor the paint offensively and defensively. Around the rim, his sheer size alters shots and forces opponents to rethink finishes inside.

McVey continues to show steady improvement and is a prospect with a frontcourt prospect with a combination of size, strength, and developing skill. A big, physical post player, he has made noticeable strides with his mobility and overall versatility, allowing him to impact the game in more ways than just around the basket. McVey displays good touch in the paint and is comfortable finishing with either hand, making him an effective interior scoring option. He also has the ability to step away from the basket and knock down open jump shots out to the three point line, adding value as a floor spacing big man. Beyond his scoring ability, McVey is a capable passer with a good feel for the game, consistently making smart reads and contributing within the flow of the offense.

McVey took a notable step forward this season, earning First Team All-Region honors while continuing to trend upward as a prospect. The junior combines good strength with improving mobility and consistent production. He shows touch around the paint, can finish through contact, and has the ability to step out and knock down open perimeter jump shots. With his development trajectory pointing up, McVey is a name college coaches should be tracking closely this offseason.
