Rising Freshmen and Sophomores You Need to Know

These young players are playing well above their age. Here are five rising freshmen and sophomores in Western Pennsylvania who've stood out.    Mason Aquiline's game is built on a foundation of strong fundamentals and high basketball IQ. He is an excellent shooter, both when spotting up and off the dribble. His fundamentals continue to shine in his ball-handling and smart play that limits turnovers. Aquiline loves the transition game and knows when to make the extra pass or take the ball to the rim himself. He's going to continue to grow and put on some bulk, and when he does — watch out. I see him making some significant contributions for the Vikings this season.     A good word to describe [player_tooltip player_id='1163399' first='Grant' last='Craig'] is dynamic. That's especially true from a scoring standpoint, both as a shooter and slasher. He has all of the fundamentals in place to continue building for success, including ball-handling and speed and athleticism. Craig is a tenacious defender who competes with a high level of intensity and always gives 100% on that end of the floor. He's had an outstanding summer and I expect that success to continue into the high school season.     Dylan Stohon already has great height for his age and I expect him to be around 6'7 in the coming years. He is a versatile player who can play anywhere from guard to forward. Stohon has a well-rounded offensive game. He has a great shot from deep and can also score inside on  the block. Add in a quality mid-range game and Stohon is difficult to guard. Defensively, he protects the rim and alters shots in the paint. Expect him to have a big season for Forest Hills this winter.     [player_tooltip player_id='2492448' first='Ashton' last='Wilbur'] is a playmaker and does an excellent job creating for himself and his teammates. He has excellent court vision and knows how to run an offense. Wilbur boasts a quality crossover and likes it when he gets into 1-on-1 situations. Once he gets into the lane, he finishes well and shows good footwork and balance. Wilbur is a good shooter, especially off the dribble.     [player_tooltip player_id='2741252' first='Aaron' last='Webb'] is an excellent shooter with great range and a quick release. He is already tall, but combine that with his athleticism, and he becomes a very difficult defensive assignment. Webb gives it his all on defense, both as a shotblocker and shut-down defender. He had a very good summer and I expect him to have a big year for Indiana this winter.
