Iowa Freshman Showcase: Team 4 Evaluations

Lehman is a true point guard, a vocal leader on the floor who gets his teammates in the right spots on both ends of the court. He's a scrappy, quick defender with good hands and side-to-side movement. On the offensive end, he's a pass-first guard who gets his teammates involved well, seeing the court and handling the ball well.     A quick, athletic guard who puts pressure on opposing teams with his speed, Davison likes to play downhill and attack the rim. He handles it well and changes directions without losing any speed. He's a quick-twitch athlete with a great first step, and he moves well laterally, which helps him on the defensive end.     Despite being listed at 5-8, Whitehouse was really impressive on the glass, competing hard against the bigger bodies on both ends of the floor. He shoots it well off the dribble, getting into his shot quickly, and he does a great job getting his teammates involved. He showed throughout the afternoon that he's a scrappy, tough guard who doesn't mind getting his nose dirty in the paint, and he can play with or without the ball in his hands.     A confident ball-handler who doesn't get sped up against pressure, Runge does a nice job playing with pace and under control. He has a high IQ and puts himself in the right spots at all times. He's a creative passer, skilled ball-handler, and viable threat as a three-level scorer.     A 6-0 wing with good length, Hickie uses that length effectively on the defensive end, contesting shots and getting into passing lanes. On the offensive end, he showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and get into the paint, where he showed the ability to finish through contact or over defenders with a nice floater.     Gammon first stood out during 3-on-3 action, moving well without the ball and showing the ability to knock down shots off the catch or create quality looks for himself and teammates off the dribble. He does a nice job subtly creating space with his off-ball arm and good footwork to get a tiny bit of additional space to get his shot off over his defender. He also showed impressive footwork in transition, finishing with one of the better Euro steps of the day.     Scott looks like a potential stretch-4 for the Rams for the next four years, showing a smooth release off the catch with range out to the arc and he gets really good rotation on his jumper. He's a mobile big man who moves his feet well, holding his own on the perimeter against smaller guards when switched onto them, and he rebounds really well, especially on the defensive end of the floor.     Wade (pictured) is a really intriguing young prospect because he was the biggest player in the gym on Saturday afternoon, listed at 6-7 and armed with a huge wingspan. For a young kid with his size, he's a fluid athlete who runs the floor well, rotates defensively, and does a nice job of contesting shots without fouling. He needs to add some strength to his frame, as do a majority of freshmen-to-be, and if he does so, he could be an absolute force on both ends of the floor for the Regals for the next four years. He showed some ability to step out and stretch the floor, and he does a nice job keeping the ball high after pulling down offensive rebounds or getting post touches.
