2028 Rankings: Top Combo Guards

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It is SUPER early for ranking freshmen but you have to start somewhere so we are launching the Class of 2028 rankings this week. There are some super talented kids at the top of this class and several kids who we have heard of but haven't been able to see and evaluate yet. Those players were put on the Watchlist for now. Here's a breakdown of the top combo guards in our inaugural 2028 rankings. Clay is comfortable on or off the ball and is best suited as a shooting guard for the immediate future. Even if he just plays mostly in the catch and shoot role, Baron should have a good freshman season.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Pineville will be relying on [player_tooltip player_id='2451396' first='Preston' last='Zachery'] to be a starter this season and is likely to be the next go to scorer for the Mountain Lions when his Sophomore campaign rolls around. Preston has a smooth jump shot and is a better athlete than he may look like in layup lines. Long term, Zachery has a good deal of potential to be a top player in the 13th.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Butler's [player_tooltip player_id='2532054' first='Jeremiah' last='Marshall'] was a bright spot at the freshman expo and he left me interested in just how good he can be. Long and lanky with some athleticism, Jeremiah resembled a younger Dayton Williams and anyone who knows me knows that is high praise. It remains to be seen what Marshall will be as a Junior or Senior but his long term potential is promising and Coach Geary is known to develop talent at Butler.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>[player_tooltip player_id='2532063' first='Kamarion' last='Roberts'] of Fairdale is a volatile prospect in the sense that his ceiling could be very high if he figures it out. Roberts best position should be at the point guard spot but he's primarily looking to score right now. Kamarion is offensively very skilled and Coach Stinnett should place an emphasis on working with Roberts to transition to more of a point guard spot. Once he gets a handle on his shot selection, Roberts' playmaking should help him be more of a true point guard.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Douglass has a very young roster and [player_tooltip player_id='2511668' first='Phillip' last='Higgins'] is part of that group of freshmen and sophomores who could play big roles for the Broncos this season. Higgins is willing to sit down and defend his position and is a capable scorer already. Phillip may not have a well known name right now but his name should be filed away for the future.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list -->
