August is almost half over, meaning the new academic school year is around the corner. Transfers are happening across the Garden State, especially in the independent and prep divisions. Here are the 2025 new additions to independent and prep schools.

[player_tooltip player_id='1382983' first='Deuce' last='Maxey'], 6'2 SG College Achieve

Maxey announced his move to College Achieve earlier today and will be looking to make his mark in the Garden State. The 6'2 guard has a good release on his jumper and sets his feet before he shoots. Maxey is more than just a shooter as he can also get into the lane off the bounce and finishes nicely around the basket. He moves well without the ball in his hands and is an underrated passer. Maxey's ability to stretch the floor is something that will help his stock throughout the course of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1810844' first='Ramon' last='Soyoye'], 6'10 C Blair Academy

Soyoye slides into the open center spot for the Buccaneers and has the potential to have a big senior season. The 6'10 post is lethal in the pick-and-roll game as he sets good screens and dives hard to the rim. Soyoye elevates strongly for dunks and has a nice touch around the basket. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and swats shots around the basket. Soyoye is a lanky post prospect whose ability to control the paint at both ends of the floor will help his game in a big way.

[player_tooltip player_id='1153987' first='London' last='Carson'], 6'4 CG Peddie

Carson is heading to Peddie to do a postgrad year and will show his ability to play on and off the ball. The 6'4 guard has a good first step, which he uses to blow by his defender and finishes with authority above the rim. Carson can also score in the mid-range and uses his size to see over his defender. He has the length to defend multiple spots on the floor and pushes the pace well in transition. Carson is an athletic guard prospect whose ability to play on and off the ball will help his development this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1677089' first='Abdou' last='Yadd'], 6'10 C Patrick School

Yadd should take over the open center position for the Celtics as he transferred in from Spire Academy. The 6'10 post has good footwork down low and can draw contact in the paint. Yadd runs the floor hard, creating easy baskets for himself in transition. He works hard on the glass and holds his ground on the defensive end. Yadd picked up eight D1 offers in the past couple of months and should grow that offer sheet with his strong play in the middle.

[player_tooltip player_id='1130841' first='Kyree' last='Latimer'], 6'3 CG Lawrenceville

Latimer is doing a postgrad season at Lawrenceville and will look to continue to show his scoring prowess in 2024-25. The 6'3 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he can finish through contact and make opponents pay for rising with him at the rim. Latimer uses his handle to get to this spot on the floor and can also score in the mid-range. He uses his length to get deflections on defense and rarely gets rattled by on-ball pressure. Latimer can put up points in bunches and should continue to do that over the course of the season.

Other Players to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id='1677090' first='Djiby' last='Ly'], 6'3 SG Patrick School

[player_tooltip player_id='2504949' first='Alex' last='Kuminga'], 6'7 SF Patrick School

[player_tooltip player_id='1773153' first='Reale' last='Basquine'], 6'6 SF Covenant College Prep

[player_tooltip player_id='1411624' first='Peter' last='Mauro'], 5'10 PG Life Center Academy

[player_tooltip player_id='2335430' first='Marlon' last='Torres'], 5'10 PG Covenant College Prep
