June 21st-23rd I attended the annual prestigious Section-7 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale,AZ. There were 160+ teams from across the West and some out of the area and it is one of the biggest live period that college coaches can view high school teams. It is basically the Super Bowl of HS basketball in the West for three days. The local teams held their own and Millennium even won one of the top brackets.

Here were some of the junior Standouts I viewed

[player_tooltip player_id='1591734' first='TJ' last='Harris'] Liberty (Pictured)

A scoring pure point guard transferred over from Paradise Honors and looks to put his stamp on the defending champs. His burst and first step is next level stuff and will stop on a dime and rise up from mid to to the three point line. He finds teammates in stride and once he gets even more acclimated with their system, he will be more effective.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490239' first='Daylen' last='Sharper'] Brophy Prep

A bigger lead guard who can make plays, defend and score. He will hit the three with some range and gets to the basket with a football-like body. He made a few needle threaders during the game that caught your eye, as his passing keeps improving as he ages. A lot of his top qualities will translate to college.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490240' first='Colton' last='Watson'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A bigger point forward type gets to the basket, makes plays for his teammates, he changes speeds well and makes shots. He has next level passing with some ropes. He often drives and kicks and is a very unselfish player. He can burst by and score in traffic with his size and length. He rebounds well and will push it. His three point shooting off the catch keeps improving.

[player_tooltip player_id='1768204' first='Luke' last='Larrabee'] Rancho Solano Prep

Another impact transfer came over from Brophy Prep. The lefty has a strap from deep. He has a super quick release and lets it fly with range from beyond the three point line. He moves without the ball and will relocate to an open spot and makes smart reads.

[player_tooltip player_id='1323292' first='Joseph' last='Lindsey'] Carl Hayden

He carried his team to the weekend and kept up his strong play. His shift to his game is top fo the food chain stuff. He changes speeds unusually well and can even make a defender fall if they are not ready for it. He sees the court with next level court vision and scores from all levels. He will catch and shoot from the three point line and comes with some range.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612468' first='Cameron' last='Williams'] St. Mary's

A highly skilled power forward keeps showing you glimpses of his future self. He can throw it down in the lane in traffic, he scores from mid to the three point line off the catch or pull and moves gracefully up the court. He rebounds well, defends in space and is one of the top shot blockers in and out of his area in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1950115' first='Alex' last='Taylor'] Desert Vista

A long defensive minded wing forward. He is a quick second jumper to get on the glass to rebound and will alter some shots. He can score on catch threes, he is good on the break and will score on put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1734005' first='Grady' last='Crandall'] Highland

A physical combo guard is a jack of all trades. He rebounds well, gets downhill with his left or right hand, he can make the three, cut to the basket and he will defend multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2298901' first='Elijah' last='White'] Apollo

A defensive point guard who can score. He changes speeds and directions well and sees the court with a tight handle in close spaces. He is a very good passer and a natural play maker who moves the ball. He can use his size to get downhill and takes contact well with his football background.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482165' first='Rider' last='Portela'] Sunnyslope

A good size scoring guard who is a versatile all-around player. He plays the 1-3 for the team and actually handled the point guard duties on the final day. He is a multiple position defender and makes plays for his teammates. He can shoot the three, pull-up and glides to the basket. He picked up a D1 offer over the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1893665' first='Cisco' last='Llamas'] Sahuaro

An undersized scoring lead guard can facilitate with slick passes down the court and thread the needle. He can also shoot it with parking lot range and pull-up from mid-range. He is very fast in the open court and beats most opponents to the rim to score.
