During the second week of the live period in Illinois I was blessed to make it to both sites again Ridgewood Live Event and Midwest Crossroads Showcase in Normal. In covering both events I've noticed that compared to last season the 2025 class is low on post players but heavy on guards. Here is a short list of guards who are right around the low-major D1 list to high level D2s. Here are some of the guard that caught my attention during the second live period.

[player_tooltip player_id='2044507' first='Brent' last='Taylor'] Lincoln Way East 6'3

Athletic scoring guard who can play above the rim in transition. Taylor likes to score in the lane but is also a good shooter from the perimeter. Has good length that translates to the defensive side of the ball. Plays a steady pace of basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545145' first='Lyncoln' last='Koester'] Mt. Zion 6'3

[player_tooltip player_id='1385286' first='Derek' last='Bishop'] Mundelein 6'2

Bishop plays at his own pace. He is a bulky combo guard who is more of a 1 than 2. He shoots the ball with consistency but is also dangerous getting downhill. He finishes at the rim multiple ways.

AJ is a scoring playmaker who is a tough cover for defenses to figure out. He's strong off the bounce getting into the lane where finishing with touch is an option or zipping a pass out for a three could also be just as effective. Demirov has a basketball IQ that can translate right away to the college level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385307' first='Cameron' last='Thomas'] Mount Carmel 6'2

[player_tooltip player_id='1766472' first='Donte' last='Montgomery'] Oak Lawn 6'3

Donte is a wiry scoring guard who can also steal some possessions at the point. Smooth guard with the rock has deep range on his shot but is also elusive when attacking off the dribble. Montgomery is also a solid athlete who can finish at the basket with either hand.
