As we close out July I wanted to take a look back at the best passers in the state. In the three events I was able to catch a lot of players who made plays to create shots for others.

[player_tooltip player_id='2326960' first='Tyreek' last='Coleman'] - Waubonsie Valley 2025

Coleman is a slick guard who can attack angles to sink the defense and open up a spot up shot for his teammates. He threads needles for slashers and puts a good touch on alley-oop assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1433337' first='AJ' last='Demirov'] - Crystal Lake South 2025

Demirov is more of a scorer but that opens up things to help him become an effective passer. As AJ gets cooking and draws attention from the defense he hits players open on the wing or dumps it off to bigs around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='1435692' first='Rykan' last='Woo'] - DePaul Prep 2026

Woo is another efficient passer who excelled in transition plays. Rykan gets the ball up the court quickly which opens the court up more. He is also good at creating off the dribble and connecting with dart passes to players spotting up. Woo is always looking to make winning plays.

Brad;ey Longcor - Quincy 2025

Bradley is a bigger guard who knows how to set guys up for easier looks. He puts pressure on teams by getting downhill keeping the handle alive while in the lane and racks up assists from players in the lane and on the perimeter. The Santa Clara commit will be a huge asset to the West Coast Conference.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598786' first='Willie' last='Felton'] - Bishop McNamara 2025

Felton is a shifty guard who can score but is a much better facilitator when in attack mode. He sees the court well after making quick moves to the cup. Felton has good body control and a knack for making plays for others while jumping in the air. He is sure to make a name for himself this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1845357' first='Noah' last='Mister'] - Mount Carmel 2026

Noah is a heady guard who scores the ball well but is very underrated as a passer. He is strong on ball screen sets and has a knack for drawing help defenders kicking the rock out to guys for wide-open shots. Mister is set to make his mark at Mt. Carmel this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125612' first='Devin' last='Cleveland'] - Kenwood 2027

Cleveland has the attributes of a high-level guard in college as a sophomore in high school. Savvy guard who is good in one or two-man sets where he can keep guys on his hip while finding players on the wing or slashing to the cup. Devin is a top-notch shooter who is very smart and a willing passer when defenders run an extra man at him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125627' first='Ethan' last='Vahl'] - West Aurora 2028

Vahl is one of the exciting players coming into high school basketball next season. An electric scorer who has a very good IQ and feel for the game. Ethan is a reactive passer and a weapon in the open court. He has some flair to the game that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552439' first='Logan' last='Luxem'] - Hersey 2026

Logan caught my eye in June but made an impression with his travel team in July. He's a big guard that can make passes with either hand. He is always looking ahead and trying to make big plays to teammates. Luxem is effective in fastbreak or half-court sets. When he has the ball the other 4 guys on his team should have their hands ready at all times.

Tyjuan Hunter - Hope Academy 2026

Tyjuan is a pass-first guard that can get to any spot on the court with his handle. He does a lot of his damage while driving into the second line of defense. At 5'10 he has exceptional vision to find guys open. Hunter is another guard who scores it at a high clip but that helps him become a terrific passer as most teams often look for him to score.

As we close out July I wanted to take a look back at the best passers in the state. In the three events I was able to catch a lot of players who made plays to create shots for others.
