Here is your first dose of some standout point guards from the end of July. Keep an eye out for part two of some of our late season performers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2205059' first='Nicholas' last='Schneider'] Redmond | EBC

Schneider was highly effective at the rim, showing some strength and awareness to get to the rim and finish around contests. Whether he was taking his man to the hole off the dribble, using some craft and power, or finding space off the ball for backdoors and dives, he did an excellent job recognizing space and opportunity.

[player_tooltip player_id='1587970' first='Gannon' last='Dykstra'] Lynden Christian | EBC

Dykstra looks to be in for a big senior season and has proven to be a much more complete player after this AAU season. He makes quick decisions off the catch, has the strength to push his man back on drives but the poise to play off two and make the right read. He's an efficient shooter and has really stepped it up defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1485561' first='Dayne' last='Cardoza'] Ingraham | [program_tooltip program_id='2451463' first='NW' last='Drip']

Cardoza played big in his final AAU game, starting out 3/3 from behind the arc and finishing with four total triples in the game. He also made some good decisions off of drives and paint touches to kick the ball back out and find open shooters. He brought the energy defensively too, which was best shown on a play where he nearly got a steal up top, then hustled back and drew an offensive foul.

[player_tooltip player_id='1450999' first='Cesar' last='Hernandez'] Davis | Beauchamp Elite

We know what kind of scorer Hernandez can be and some of that ability was on display last weekend, with Hernandez converting on and-ones, and hitting some midrange dribble pull-ups. But he also showed the ability to distribute the rock from different spots, making good passes off his penetration, finding cutters behind the defense, and sprinkling in some long passes in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='1451035' first='Avidan' last='West'] Northwest Christian (Colbert) | Hooptown Elite

West was constantly getting around his man and to the hoop, killing the defense with his strong left hand and quick bursts. He's a kid who has the quickness and strength to finish up high and through contact, and was able to draw several trips to the foul line as well. He was a bright spot on both sides of the floor, defending at a high level on the ball and playing with great energy overall.
