After a year away from GA back to the Peach comes Van Dorn as he lands on what on paper could be a devastatingly tough Tri-Cities team. Finding chemistry on a team loaded with star power like Jalen Wingfield, [player_tooltip player_id='2102286' first='Tre' last='Keith'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1810741' first='Carby' last='Martin'] just to name a few is challenge #1, yet Van Dorn's versatility and willingness to play multiple roles will be a key and was on display. Plays as a big 6-5 allowing him to play the 2 with his shooting and driving but also play small forward because he's smart and physical defensively.

Just one part of a deep backcourt corps that includes Walnut Grove transfer [player_tooltip player_id='1383035' first='Marcus' last='Smith'] added to returnees like [player_tooltip player_id='2633651' first='Tim' last='Prather'] and Dwarka Jackson. All four have similar characteristics within the confines of an exciting up-and-back Newton style of play. Harden showed off dynamite passing ability and an unselfishness that underscores how capable a scorer he is. A stout defender he has typical Ram toughness and grit and this team is unquestionably a threat to go all the way in revamped 6A with Harden, his backcourt mates mentioned above, and plenty of frontcourt talent.

Has for a couple of years now been sneakily emerging as one of the better sleeper scorers in the ATL-Metro and it's now his show out in Douglasville. Seriously had the 3-ball stroke going when I saw him and that's a signature of what he brings. But he's looking bigger and stronger and fills out the frame requirement of what you're looking for at the next level too, a big-time athlete who can rebound from the backcourt and pass and penetrate like a point guard. Deserving of more serious attention.

Came from middle GA to Smyrna last year with some hype attached and had moments that made you want to see more. Last weekend at LakePoint saw a much more mature and focused game, the talent level never really being in question as to whether he could play at the next level. The engagement, energy and multi-level scoring was on point and if that can be consistently be on display he'll be too hard to ignore for college programs. With 2025 forward [player_tooltip player_id='1810737' first='Hakeem' last='Weems'], who also looked excellent and locked in, gives the Cardinals two guys worth the trip to Cobb County.

Another gifted scorer who showed off what many of us on the grind had been seeing for a couple of seasons now with a barrage of 3-balls when I saw him. Arriving to another big and physical Greenforest team from Drew Charter just in time to help draw attention away from their bigs with his deadeye shooting from distance. One of those guys who just has a nose for scoring but doesn't force the issue and plays a college brand of ball. Coaches know him a bit from his work with the [program_tooltip program_id='2076854' first='GA' last='Canes'] the last two years and would be wise to get in now before it gets harder to nab him.

Speaking of guys whose game has matured Edgerton looked the full part of a guy set to emerge as both a leader and more dynamic scorer for the Cougars. Much improved from long range after his first two years as a notable varsity contributor were spent mostly out in the open floor and getting downhill at the rim. Handled the ball a bunch in a lead role offering even more to next-level programs for what should be another good Hooch crew that you can't take lightly any night.

Incorporates both old school and new age elements in his 6-6 frame that harkens back to guys like Charles Barkley but doesn't omit the modern critical need for consistent shooting touch away from the goal. Plays a willing back-to-the-basket game for a team that usually features (and does again) stellar guard play and ball movement. An on-court vocal leader who plays a fiery brand that is both parts hustle and skill away from the basket, easily versatile and translatable at the next level. Another guy slipping too far beneath the radar in need of more attention.

Despite getting a healthy serving of Sandy Creek at the opening GBCA Live weekend I couldn't resist going back for more (just like St Pius). While there I wanted to focus in on Florence a bit more to see how he could be a key for them up front with such losses to graduation for the 2-time defending 3A champs. His grit and hustle play at the 4 could indeed be a key elixir for them as he defends multiple spots and hits the glass like a guy much bigger than his listed 6-6. Sneaky good moves around the basket as well and not afraid to face up from the arc.
