Kyle Sandy | Prep Hoops Scout
Electric athlete attacks the rim relentlessly. His game is predicated on quickness and penetration. Breaks down defenses before lobbing to dunkers or kicking to shooters. Earned a Fresno State offer earlier in the year.

earlier this season. He’s an electrifying athlete that gets to the rim at will. Smith turns corners with great speed, using a low center of gravity to get by bigger defenders. He explodes towards the rim, able to finish through the chests of would-be shot blockers. Marcus is also a very good passer with great zip on his passes. When he’s not scoring at the basket, he’s making plays off the dribble with dissecting dishes.

Up from No. 53: Has found his groove at his new home after a sluggish start at the GBCA. Athletic playmaker thrives at getting to the rim and finishing through contact. Crafty playmaker holds a Fresno State offer.

While he had an off scoring night, Marcus still looked good as a crafty facilitator. Smith uses his athleticism and speed to burn defenders off the bounce before finding the open man, whether lobbing for dunks or kicking to shooters. Smith has a knack for squeezing in assists in tight windows. The lefty provided pesky on-ball defense against the talented bigger Woodward Academy backcourt and ended his night with 2 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals.

is back for his junior year at Walnut Grove and takes over the driver’s seat as Deston Christian recently left for Legacy Early College. While the Smith-Christian duo would have been one of the best in 4A, I’m expecting Smith to now embrace more of a primary scoring role. Smith is a shifty little point guard that loves to get downhill. He’s an excellent finisher around the rim and if he can get to the launch pad, he’ll throw it down everytime. Smith looks ready to take a major step forward in his junior year.

Smith is one of the top athletes in his class, super bouncy and strong in the upper body too. He’s got a mean crossover and changes directions quickly with the ball, likes to get inside where he can finish through and over contact. Together,

. The lefty guard has some wiggle in his handle, one of the meanest crossovers in this class, and knows how to create off the bounce. He’s deceptively athletic and will get up for a dunk here and again, also a tough finisher through contact. Smith has yet to receive any college offers but the month of June could really get things rolling.

Marcus thrived at getting to the hoop in transition, scoring three coast-to-coast buckets in the first quarter, springing the Warriors to an 11-2 advantage and a growing lead they would nurse throughout the game. The lefty does a lot well for Walnut Grove and has seen an even bigger role with the injury to
