The 2nd annual California Live was held in Sacramento,CA on June 28-30 with 160 teams from the West Coast including 12 from Arizona.

I want to take a look at some of the standouts I viewed when I saw them play in one or two of their weekend games. I obviously could not see all 4 of them and they could have had their worst game when I watched but hopefully I caught them at the right time.

Here were some standout scoring PG's/CG's from the 12 local teams

[player_tooltip player_id='1768205' first='Jayden' last='Hughes'] Brophy Prep (Pictured)

A switchable and versatile defender. He will guard the one and then switch on a bigger forward as he really sits down and defends. He can slash to the basket and then post you up inside with floaters or runners and will hit the glass and score on put backs. He will also hit the occasional three and dunk it on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='1770292' first='Malaki' last='Garnica'] Brophy Prep

A physical combo guard on-ball defender who is great on the break. He has a burst to get into the paint to score and can hit the three off the catch. His energy on both ends of the court keep him playing more.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482165' first='Rider' last='Portela'] Sunnyslope

The bigger combo guard can shoot it and is a true triple threat. He can play off of the pick and roll game and drive quickly down the lane and finish with either hand. He gives hard ball fakes and smartly changes speeds and blows by his initial defender and scores at the rim. He has the catch three with a quick release after coming off of curl.

[player_tooltip player_id='1548525' first='Caron' last='Perez'] Williams Field

A scoring combo guard handled a lot of the lead role this weekend without Diggs. He makes good reads to his teammates and threaded the needle multiple times. He can also score as he creates his own offense off the dribble and will rise up from the three plus off the catch. He has enough shift to get past his defender into the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1369213' first='Amare' last='King'] Casteel

A bigger combo guard is a top notch rebounder for position and will push the pace. He finds teammates and will score. He made some full length passes and when he is doubled, he will often find the open man. He has the pull-up off the dribble from mid to the three plus cuts off the ball for scores. He made a couple impressive post double moves in the paint showing his versatility. He also defends nearly every position.

[player_tooltip player_id='1736172' first='Keegan' last='Colter'] Liberty

A scoring point guard who scores on back door layups, catch threes and transition layups. He loves using the pick and roll game and will drive and kick it down the lane. He throws up the court passes perfectly to teammates and rebounds well in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='2257790' first='Nicholas' last='Topolosek'] Liberty

A natural scoring lead guard caught fire versus Campbell Hall with 20 points and five threes made. He has a quick release and squares up in a blink of an eye. He rises up high with good elevation and can get to the basket with a quick burst.

[player_tooltip player_id='1150844' first='Quincy' last='Everson'] Millennium

A lead guard who scores it with catch threes in bunches and can take you off the bounce and get to the basket or even post up a guard in a pinch with his tight handle. He cuts off the ball and uses the pick and roll game to find teammates. He is trending up and has been their rock all June.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432447' first='Nico' last='Bojorquez'] Casteel

A scoring point guard is tough and comes with some skill. He picked some pockets and raced down the other way for layups. He makes open threes and finds teammates when needed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1217315' first='TayVion' last='Wilson'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A scoring point guard is a knockdown three point shooter. He will rattle them off with a quick trigger and can score around the basket with drives with a quick burst and put back floaters. Wilson is going to be pivotal for a deep 6A or OPEN run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1776604' first='Tristen' last='Rhodes'] Millennium

A scoring lead who gets hot in a blink of an eye. He has a super quick trigger with parking lot range. He has unlimited range and huge confidence. He stays in motion and moves without the ball. He makes smart decisions with the ball and is a very key part of the Tigers success.

[player_tooltip player_id='1351129' first='JT' last='Amundsen'] Millennium

Another stud shooting lead guard for the Millennium is Amundsen. He has a super quick release on his shooting from beyond the three point line. He handles it well and makes good reads to his teammates. He catches and shoots it so quickly from the perimeter either from mid or the three. The high academic senior has a steady game and has hit a shocking 173 3's in his career. He also takes charges on the norm and knows the game like a son of a coach would.
