The 2027 Tennessee player rankings saw a makeover in the top 10.

Here are 4 takeaways:

New No. 1

Houston's point guard Justin Frison is the new No. 1 player in the class. He showed he belongs on the same court with other talented players this AAU season playing for Hoop City 16U. Frison is a fierce competitor. This AAU season, the rising sophomore displayed his balance as a scorer and facilitator in front of college programs. His presence on the floor was important to Hoop City's success. Frison picked up offers from Alabama State and Tennessee State this summer, and this should only be the beginning for Frison. Now with him being No. 1, Frison will have to step his performance up a notch during the 2024 season to show why he's worthy of staying at the top.

Jones makes a huge leap

Bartlett's Dylan Jones jumped 25 spots to No. 5. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard had a productive AAU season for [program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] 15U on Nike EYBL, averaging 16.4 points and 7.1 rebounds. Jones can make shots from the perimeter. He finishes well around the rim. Jones has great length to play at shooting guard and small forward. He made a statement this AAU season, picked up offers, and will be a vital piece to the Panthers' success as the program looks to make another trip to the TSSAA Division 1 Class 4A Boys' State Tournament.

McGaughey jumps inside the top 10

First Assembly Christian School's Antonio McGaughey jumps 17 spots to No. 7. He's another prospect in this class with size. McGaughey is a 6-6 guard with upside. He's really good in transition with great touch and strong finish at the rim. McGaughey can make shots from the perimeter. He doesn't have issues getting to the rim. McGaughey has a promising future with the opportunity to be the best prospect in the class. It's not farfetched.

Update on McGaughey: He's transferring to The Valley Prep in Gilbert, Arizona. He's the second prospect in the class to transfer out of Tennessee. Previous No. 1 ranked player Malachi Jordan from Ensworth is transferring to Link Academy.

Spight joins the top 10 club

It was only a matter of time before Briarcrest's point guard Greg Spight made his way inside top 10, making him the third point guard to be ranked inside the top 10, joining Frison and Upperman's Ty Cobb. He moved up 11 spots to No. 10. Spight already has a TSSAA Division II Class AA Boys' state title under his belt. Add a productive AAU season to his resume. For [program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] 15U during the Nike EYBL season, the 5-10 point guard averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 assists, which was second on 15U. Spight is a lethal knockdown shooter. Spight's ability to make tight window passes is an area he has seemed to master. Spight is the perfect point guard for pick-and-roll action because a score or an assist is coming. He's a plus each time he's on the floor. Spight is one of those players a coach has to let loose and not hold back. He's too talented to be placed inside a box.

In the rest of the top 10, Ryan Wingard moved up to No. 2. Houston's Jordan Myles fell a spot No. 4. Zhenhe Liu debuted at No. 6. Armani Smith came in at No. 8. Baba Diop moved up three spots to No. 9.
