USA Youth Hoops Summer Invitational 2028 Top Players

The small town of Fishers, Indiana was a prime destination for top notch basketball over the weekend. The class of 2028 was represented really well at the Summer Invitational. These young men displayed all the necessary skills needed to succeed at the high school level.    AJ is a combo guard who plays more like a point guard. Great ball handler who uses the dribble to create for himself or teammates. Floor general who spearheads the plays needed to have an successful offense. Good passer who continuously found open players for easy shots. He also showed the ability to score the ball when his squad needed him too. Excellent at slashing to the basket and knocking down jump shots. I strongly believe AJ will excel at the high school level at the point guard slot. He has all the intangibles and leadership skills to make it happen.     From what I saw over the weekend, JT was the best shooter at the tournament. In the game I witnessed, he knocked down at least 5 three point shots. Excellent spot up shooter who doesn't need much space to get his shot off. He also showed a handle for the basketball by getting into the lane and finishing with runners or layups. Good free throw shooter who is definitely a scoring threat anywhere on the basketball court. A decent defender who stays in front of opposing players while being very pesky. The sky is the limit for JT as he continues to grow and work on improving his game.     Preston has the ability to easily score in the painted area. Most of the points he scored were on hustle plays such as offensive rebounds and put backs. He is excellent at grabbing rebounds on both sides of the court. I witnessed him constantly attacking the boards regardless of contact from opposing players. He plays the game with pride and knows how important his role as a defender is on the court. Runs the floor well and finishes in fast break situations. Preston's biggest strength was the sheer hustle he had to be a part of every play on the court. This is the type of player who will always have a spot of a team. Coaches love players who don't mind grinding and getting dirty. If he adds more offense to his game... watch out!!     Marcell showed the ability to play both inside and outside the painted area. He has good post moves along with the ability of making jump shots outside of 12 feet. Great at grabbing offensive rebounds and scoring easy put backs. Sets good picks and screens that allow teammates to be more efficient on the offense. Good interior post defender who has no issues boxing out and grabbing defensive rebounds. Does not go for pump fakes and stays on the ground against opposing post players. Marcell has the talent to play at the varsity level in high school. He has the size and skill to immediately become a problem offensively. The scary part is... he still has time to grow.     Desmond is a great defender who can stay with opposing players. He had no issues fighting through screens and disrupting shots taken by offensive players. Showed no fear while going inside the paint to grab rebounds on both ends of the court. He definitely has all the intangibles to be valuable to any team he plays for. Loves to get around defenders and attack the basket. There were a few occasions where he scored through contact, which lead to a three point play opportunity. A decent passer who can find open teammates for positive plays. Really looking forward to seeing how Desmond's game translates to high school basketball. If he improves his play offensively, there will be no issues.     Thomas has excellent passing skills. He is a high energy player who has the ability to create for himself or teammates. He is a good shooter from the floor, often making floaters, mid-range jumpers and three point shots if given the opportunity. Plays defense with a high level of feistiness while being a tough minded guard who pressures opposing players into mistakes. He was always in attack mode when he was on the floor. Example: Thomas hit a buzzer beater to give his squad the overtime win over a very good team over the weekend. This shows his ability to come up big in clutch situations. I'm looking forward to keeping track of his progress in high school.     Aggressive scoring guard who is most effective driving to the basket. Jaylen plays tough defense against opposing guards, often forcing turnovers and causing havoc. Displayed a long distance shooting range by nailing a few three point shots. He is the kind of player who looks for his shot regardless of who is in front of him. Good passer who can make plays for others. A very confident player who seems to be fearless on the court. As long as Jaylen continues to enhance his skills, high school basketball will be an easy transition.     Brady provided steady play at the point guard spot while running the team offense flawlessly. With his passing ability he had no problems finding open teammates for easy scoring opportunities. He showed the ability to make a variety of shots on the floor. Mid-range jump shots, long three pointers and lane penetration are major strengths he use effectively. Excellent ball handler who can create for himself and others. On defense he created turnovers by shooting passing lanes effectively. Brady can and will succeed in high school at the lead guard position.     Cam is an excellent shooter who has the capability of making long or mid-range shots. He displayed the ability to create his own shots with side steps and step back jumpers. In isolation situations, he showed the ability to drive the ball to the basket for easy scores. He is a very skilled player on the offensive side of the ball. Cam has the lateral quickness to be a great defender. He stays velcroed to opposing guards, while not giving up any air space. He excels at on ball steals and forcing turnovers. High school basketball will be an easy transition for this young man.
