The South Dakota 2027 rankings were updated Monday, and that brought some new additions to talk about. In this post, we have eight new names.

Note, those on the watch list I have not seen extensively enough to comfortably give them a ranking, but they will be ranked in the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='2449686' first='Spencer' last='Blanchette'] I 5'10" PG I Vermillion

Spencer is on the watch list, but he's my favorite and most impactful addition to the rankings. He's a prospect that could be high on the rankings board when we know more about him. But he can play and is a baller from the point guard spot on Vermillion's Freshman team this past season. A very skilled guard with the ball, where he can breakdown a defender and also shoots the three well. Creates his own shot and can finish in the lane in a variety of ways. An up and comer and one to know and follow in his Sophomore season. Could develop into a top 20 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2387867' first='Peyton' last='Glenn'] I 6'1" SG I Rapid City Christian I [program_tooltip program_id='2131095' first='Black' last='Hills Express']

Need to see more of Glenn to elaborate on him, but he was with Black Hill Express' 16U team at Stomping Grounds, and he belonged. Plays the two-guard and I thought he had solid skills and competed defensively and closed-out hard and flew around.

[player_tooltip player_id='2443282' first='Patrick' last='Maynard'] I 6'3" F I Hitchcock-Tulare I [program_tooltip program_id='2337876' first='James' last='Valley Thunder']

Maynard is also on the watch list because I've only seen him once, but he's a varsity player for Class B Hitchcock-Tulare. A big wing at 6'3" and plays physical. He's playing with [program_tooltip program_id='2337876' first='James' last='Valley Thunder'] out of the Groton Area, so he'll be honing his skills this offseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='2430313' first='Brady' last='Hiltunen'] I 5'11" G I Sioux Valley I [program_tooltip program_id='2222672' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy']

Brady is a lefty guard who can shoot the lights out. Saw him be a shot-maker with [program_tooltip program_id='2222672' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy'] at Prep Hoop Battle At The Lakes. A skilled offensive player that stood out with the Sanford Grey team. I see him being a main contributor for Sioux Valley down the line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2429967' first='Brennen' last='Juffer'] I 6'5" F I Lennox I [program_tooltip program_id='2222672' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy']

Saw Juffer live at Prep Hoops Stomping Grounds in Sioux Falls, playing with [program_tooltip program_id='2222672' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy']. He's a very long forward-type at 6'5". Not sure he translates to a wing spot, but he can play out on the perimeter comfortably. Has some upside if he puts in some work on his offensive game. Already has an affect on the game defensively with his length and long arms.

[player_tooltip player_id='2431532' first='Akol' last='Thyab'] I 6'4" PF I Sioux Falls Roosevelt I [program_tooltip program_id='2075426' first='CYAL' last='Rebels']

Thyab is with the [program_tooltip program_id='2075426' first='CYAL' last='Rebels'] program, and they were at Prep Hoops Battle At The Lakes. He's a longer power forward/interior prospect that can run rim-to-rim and has above average leaping ability. Seems a little raw overall, but he can finish around the hoop effectively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2449336' first='Cooper' last='Nielsen'] I 5'11" G/F I Tri-Valley

Saw Neilsen playing with Tri-Valley's Freshmen team, and he was a major playmaker and key contributor for them. He likes to attack the rim and play full speed up and down the court. A strong rebounder that will board-and-go and push in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='2449687' first='Levi' last='VanderLeest'] I 5'7 PG I Sioux Falls Christian

Levi is a smaller point guard with a thinner frame, but he can handle the point guard spot well. A solid ball-handler that can also shoot the three well. Played with Sioux Falls Christian's Freshmen team.
