The West Coast Elite Portland Spring Preview recently took place at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA and a number of guys made an impression with their play. A number of guys we saw for the very first time caught our eye for the next rankings update in their respective classes. Here's a look.

Andrew Imhoff, [program_tooltip program_id='2248658' first='Boss' last='Basketball'] 17U (2025 Trinity Lutheran)

Sometimes being a star at the small school level - 1A in Imhoff's case - may not translate to high-level club basketball but that's not the case with Imhoff. Standing around 6-foot-4 with a long and lanky frame, the Trinity Lutheran rising senior fit right in with his teammates and was able to show off some ability to score from multiple places on the court.

Ryder Grieb, [program_tooltip program_id='2248658' first='Boss' last='Basketball'] 17U (2025 Summit)

Grieb played some varsity ball on Summit's 5A title team last season but if his play with [program_tooltip program_id='2248658' first='Boss' last='Basketball'] was any indication, the 6-foot-4 forward is due for a lot more court time. The rising senior has a solid build, played hard, hit the boards with purpose, and was able to finish a number of plays around the hoop as well as some face-up jumpers as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2427509' first='Malik' last='Mason'], Fly Academy 14U (2028 Grant)

We got a chance to peek over at some action involving incoming freshmen and it didn't take us long to spot Mason. Standing about 6-foot-3 with already a good build, you would expect him to dominate inside but he showed a variety of perimeter skills as well. He was quick to go from defensive rebound to attacking the basket on the other end and his jumper looked pretty solid.

[player_tooltip player_id='2427524' first='Leo' last='Onishchenko'], Elite 24 14U Grey (2028 West Linn)

Standing approximately 6-foot-5 at our best estimation, Onishchenko was the tallest player in the 14U division but he wasn't all just height. The incoming West Linn freshman showed a good touch around the hoop, was able to put the ball on the floor a little bit, and ran the floor well. As you might expect, his height and length proved to be valuable as a rebounder and at defending the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2427521' first='Jae'lyn' last='Smith'], Elite 24 14U Grey (2028 Reynolds)

Out of all the incoming freshmen we saw, no one may have played as hard as Smith. The begoggled incoming Reynolds freshman was constantly on the attack on offense, using his quickness to push the ball up the floor and get to the basket. He capably hit some open shots from the perimeter when given the opportunity and was all over the place on defense too for the Elite 24 Grey squad that captured the tournament title.
