Cherry was one of the top guard prospects in the class of 2028 for the weekend. He set the tone defensively at the top of the key. Great lateral quickness and tough to knock off his spot. He is good at cutting opposing off and forcing the ball away. A good ball handler, a floor general, that creates off the dribble to get teammates open. He is a playmaking shot creator that can create space with the ball using shifty crossovers. He can get to the rim often and loves to take contact with some tough finishes an area where he excels.
Stephen Walker
Stephen Walker
Walker had a solid weekend displaying his skillset. He was able to guard multiple positions, 1-4, making switches and transition defense look easy for him. He’s a long armed, quick reacting wing player with a decent jumper that makes good hustle plays. He scores best when looking to slash and finish inside off good ball movement but can create on his own and get inside for points. Good timing and reaction on rebounds and steals as well, great instincts.
Jonovan Leavell
Jonovan Leavell
Jonovan showed good combo guard potential with his ability to control the offense with the ball in hand, as well as being effective without the ball. He has nice top speed with the ball in hand and he is also good under pressure using sharp changes of direction to keep defenders off balance. He uses that speed and agility on defense as well to slide his feet and stay in front of ball handlers around the perimeter.
Reed played with pace and IQ very well as a primary point guard. He is an accurate shooter and facilitator that often gets to the middle to do either option. He makes smart plays as a passer, good at drawing defenders to find kick out passes to the wing. He is an unselfish scorer, knowing when to get others involved as well as when to turn it on and attack. He shoots with a good touch and could be an off the dribble shooting threat if guarded loosely.
Highlights
High is a good decision maker that can shoot the ball well from mid-range and beyond. A smart player who doesn’t tend to commit a ton of turnovers or foul a lot. He can find teammates well when being tightly guarded and shows some strong passing skills at times. He can attack in the half court against a zone well because he is a spot up threat known to shoot but is also good at making those passes when defenders rotate.
