The Hoopsource Memorial Day Championships has always featured some of the best teams in the state in a competitive field, and this year was no different. A number of guys really got things going from the perimeter over the weekend and here's a look at some of the top shooters we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id='1110591' first='RJ' last='Alexander'], Oregon Prospects North (2024 Gresham)

Nobody at the tournament had anywhere near the deep range of Alexander, who capably hit some threes a couple steps after crossing the mid-court line. The Gresham senior lefty hit at least four threes in two of the games we saw and didn't just bomb away as he also converted some tough drives. He remains unsigned.

[player_tooltip player_id='1953759' first='Owen' last='Bentea'], Oregon Prospects South (2025 Roseburg)

Bentea can a bit of a volume gunner, but when you have the quick release and ability to really heat up in a hurry you can live with some of the misses. What makes the rising Roseburg senior special with his shooting is the way he's capable of nailing contested shots with guys right in his face.

Kaleb Lasoya, [program_tooltip program_id='2248658' first='Boss' last='Basketball'] (2025 Redmond)

Lasoya was an absolute knockdown shooter for [program_tooltip program_id='2248658' first='Boss' last='Basketball'] over the weekend, largely on the catch-and-shoot but with plenty of range. The Redmond senior is a smaller guard at about 5-foot-7 but has the quickness and ball-handling ability to create a little off the dribble.

Charlie Kapranos, Oregon Prospects North (2024 Grant)

Kapranos was the best big shooter and might have been the highest percentage three-point shooter out of anyone we saw all weekend. The Grant senior set up at the top of the key mainly to utilize his great passing, but was near automatic hitting from deep when left open. Pacific Lutheran is getting a good one.

Christian Crumble, More Than Hoop 16U/17U (2025 Grant)

One player More Than Hoop director Allan Brown noted has really improved is Crumble, and that was very clear from the game we watched him compete. The rising Grant senior was true from three especially on the wings, and in addition to catching and shooting he was also able to create space off the bounce.

Dryus Dent, Tru North Elite (2025 Roosevelt)

A year ago there's no way we'd have Dent's name and knockdown shooter in the same sentence. That certainly changed as over the weekend the rising Roosevelt senior showed that he's worked hard on his outside shooting, showing that he couldn't be left open from three without there being damage inflicted.
