Everyone in the 16U bracket hit the floor running at Lake Dallas High School with some dominant outings and nail-biting finishes. Here are the top individual performers that caught my eye during the morning and early afternoon slate of games.
Devin Rodgers
Devin Rodgers
Devin Rodgers is a player that stood out to me for two reasons: his effortless athleticism and ability to impact the game without scoring the ball. I watched him play in a low scoring game during the morning session and although both teams struggled to get going offensively, Rodgers made some brilliant plays. His instincts to play the passing lanes was stellar and he made some big plays out in transition. He was one of the better athletes on the floor but never seemed to redline throughout the game. He played under control, usually down shifting and beating defenders with timely speed and great passing.
Owen Mccalip

Other players on Team Oklahoma scored more and had flashier plays but no one impressed me more than guard Owen Mccalip. The reason being, he just made winning play after winning play against Live 2 Hoops TX Tigers out of San Antonio. He finished the game with two points but his passing, timely steals, and all the small things in-between got his team over in a tightly contest game.

It came in a losing effort, but Jordan Hernandez Jordan Hernandez 6’1″ | SG San Antonio Fox Tech | 2026 TX put up one of the more impressive 20-point scoring performances I have seen over the past two days. If he had an off game, it’s hard to see how Live 2 Hoop would have stayed competitive. The most impressive thing about his performance was the degree of difficulty of the shots he made and how he did it at all three levels. For the game, Hernandez finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, and four 3-pointers.
Brian Moorehead
Brian Moorehead
There has been plenty of great guard play through two days at The Plex, but Brian Morehead of Beast Elite showed out for the wings and bigs in this tournament. At 6-3, he uses all of his length, and it was definitely a problem for Prok Skills San Antonio to combat. He finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and two ferocious blocks. His rebounding, rim protection, and interior scoring in the halfcourt was a definite game changer.
Amare Polk
Amare Polk
Beast Elite had quite a few top performers in the early afternoon game against Pro Skill San Antonio, so I have to bring up another. Guard Amare Polk did just about whatever he wanted in this game. He was a blur in transition and Pro Skills could not keep him out of the paint. He had multiple grab-and-go end-to-end finishes that seemed way easier than they actually were. He finished with 16 points with most of those coming at the rim.
