Multiple high school events will be taking place in the summer months including the IBCA Top 100 workout, the Charlie Hughes Showcase, plus multiple summer leagues. Prep Hoops Indiana will be out in full force all month watching multiple high schools prospects across the board. Let’s go ahead and take a look at four 2027s that are on my watch list for the summer. This is Part 1 of 5 2027 watch lists.
If we are going to start off our five part series of the 2027s you need to watch this summer, why not start with the best overall prospect in the Indiana High School Class of 2026, Jaylan Mitchell Jaylan Mitchell 6’7″ Evansville Reitz | 2027 State IN of Evansville Reitz. Mitchell has been running with Bradly Beal Elite this spring and has been one of more talked about 2027s it feels like. He led Evansville Reitz in nearly all stats during the high school season with his 15.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. His unique combination of physical strength and skill has led to several offers from high-major programs from across the country.
When it comes to point guards in the 2027 in-state class, Cash Daniels Cash Daniels 5’8″ | PG Cathedral | 2027 IN is one to keep an eye on in the coming years. The 5’9 guard got some pretty good experience last year at Cathedral appearing in 19 games for the Irish. This summer, he is likely going to see his role increase a little more and may have some more consistent minutes in the backcourt. Real shifty guard that can be a true playmaker on the ball.
I have seen Cross already a handful of times during his high school career and each time I become more and more impressed with him. He is based out of Bloomington North and actually started as the lead for the Cougars during his freshman season so he already has that experience. He plays with maturity, a solid IQ, has a lot of length for his age and is a player that is going to get better and better throughout his high school career. Has been really good for Indiana Elite this spring which should carry into the summer.
Potential, potential, and more potential. That is what the 6’9 sophomore center out of Pike High School has and then some. His freshman season was a little bit of leaning experience for him but when he was comfortable on the floor, he was one of the intriguing big men you will find. He has the size, length, and athleticism to play the post position with a lot of other raw tools that will be fine-tuned throughout his high school career. Tons of upside.
