It wasn’t just offense and buckets that highlighted the weekend, as there were certainly some elite defenders in the building. These players that got it done on the defensive end were some of the most influential people in the gym. Let’s take a look at a few of the top defenders that I saw at the event.
Rohr had himself a weekend at the Cream City Collision. The Wisconsin Rush 2026 guard played well on both ends of the floor. It was his perimeter defense that stood out to me the most when I saw him play. It wasn’t anything fancy, just good old fashioned make it tough on the offense type of defensive game. Rohr beat his opponent to their spot and made it tough to run a clean offense. He fought through screens and communicated on switches.

Goines has definitely put his name on the recruiting map in Michigan. The Midwest Stampede 2026 Black star shined defensively over the weekend. He might have been the best all around defender in the gym and his D was a key part of his team’s 1st place pool finish and top 7 overall finish. Goines locked down his man and forced them to parts of the floor where they weren’t comfortable. He play very good help defense and made dribble drives incredibly tough.

Rechcygl definitely stood out at the Cream City Collision. The Chapman Basketball Academy guard was very influential on the defensive end of the floor. He showed a good base and fast and athletic feet when defending. Rechcygl had good hips that made it tough for the offensive player to get him out of position. He read his man well and was able to cut lanes to the rim and force the ball to be moved.

Williams is very quickly creating an identity for himself this grassroots season. Just a week ago his lockdown defense led directly to a Midwest Stampede 2026 Blue victory that took his team to a semifinal appearance. He was at it again this weekend in Milwaukee. Williams showed once again that he can lockdown on the perimeter. He can play chest-to-chest defense and force the ball out of a primary ball handler or top scorers hands.
