May 3rd-5th I attended the annual Bash in the Desert at the Phhacility and Valley Vista HS locations. It had nearly 60 teams total and I watched 80% of all the teams to form a good opinion of the field.

I watched 20+ of the 25 17U teams and

Here is my All-Individual 2nd Team for 17U:

These are a combination of teams performance combined with how the individual played.

[player_tooltip player_id='1135514' first='Treyvion' last='Curry'] Phheonix Prep ([program_tooltip program_id='2075793' first='Arizona' last='Select'] UAA)

One of the top on-ball defenders will pick you up the length of the court and put you in a phone booth with next level lateral quickness. He will collect steals and dunk it on the other end. He gets downhill with next level body control and rebounds well in and out of his area. He ran some PG spot and made good decisions to make plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='1369213' first='Amare' last='King'] Casteel ([program_tooltip program_id='2075793' first='Arizona' last='Select'] UAA)

A facilitating point forward type had a few eye pooping passes. He rebounds well, blocks shots and is a switchable defender. This team is unlocking his full potential of playing on or off the ball, getting out in transition, making shots and defending nearly every position.

[player_tooltip player_id='1340634' first='Alex' last='Burns'] Eastmark ([program_tooltip program_id='2415446' first='Arizona' last='Grind'] Elite)

A quickly improving scoring PG will drive and kick it for the dime. He hesitates well to score with good body control and also has a sneaky quick burst. He will rise up into a three and is deceptively fast. He has quick spin moves with a very tight crossover into a pull-up. He uses his left hand well and will make off balanced shots. His ability to dribble in tight spaces makes his game go. He is better than I have him ranked!

Justin Neubert Durango/CO (New Mexico D1 2025) (Pictured)

A good looking forward can play both spots. He has athleticism, length and skill. He can rattle off threes one by one for his size impressively. He is an out of area rebounder and scores it around the rim with contact. He can give a ball fake and get to the basket or rise up from mid-range.

[player_tooltip player_id='2134484' first='Jamal' last='Ali'] Sahuaro (Tucson Spartans Black)

A long power forward will alter or block shots in and out of his area. He moves his feet really well for his size and makes it difficult to score on him. He is surprisingly very athletic when he shows it and he will be a way above the rim dunker. He is a quick second jumper to rebound on both ends of the court and scores on puts backs with either hand. On top of that, his three point shot is steadily coming in.

[player_tooltip player_id='2123443' first='Sergio' last='Ramirez'] Canyon View ([program_tooltip program_id='2301191' first='Team' last='Rise N Grind'] Black)

A scoring guard had a good showing. He scores it from all levels with mid-range jumpers, threes and can catch and shoot or side step and create his own threes. He is a quicker second jumper to get on the glass and plays with an edge.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873684' first='Tyson' last='Crandall'] Highland (East Valley Select)

A highly skilled scoring point guard who knows the game with a long line of talent in his family. He plays with skill and from the neck up. He has a very polished mid-range pull-up off the dribble with a very quick release and can hit the three. He is deceptively quick and has a tight handle with confidence.

[player_tooltip player_id='1780585' first='Aidan' last='Lee Delafield'] Centennial (AZ Select James 2025)

A scoring PG is a bucket. He puts so much pressure on the defense as he is always in attack mode. He has a clean stroke from all levels. He has parking lot range and is very fast with the ball. He is extremely quick with the ball in his hands and shifty to create space. He is also quick on the ball defensively and will dive for a loose ball.
