On May 3rd - 5th I attended Bash In The Desert hosted by PrepHoops located at Valley Vista High School.

I watched exactly 19 15U teams.

Here are some All-Tournament performances for the weekend.

These are based on ONE/TWO games I saw of each team. These are NOT prospect rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='2407206' first='Cameron' last='Hurt'] Pinnacle (Peak 15U - Rohde) (Pictured)

In addition to his solid shooting ability, Cameron is a very good playmaker. He knew when to make the extra pass as well as making solid reads off the pick-and-roll. There were a few times in games where he made a great skip pass driving the baseline, which caught the defense in scramble situations. To mention his shooting, he has a clean form and consistently makes threes in catch-and-shoot situations, given when his feet are set.

[player_tooltip player_id='2433111' first='Jacob' last='Muniz'] Boulder Creek (AZ Select 15U)

Jacob is a very fundamental point guard. He does all the little things well and is a leader on the court. Ball pressure didn't phase him much this weekend, as teams were picking up full court, and he handled the pressure very well. He knows where to be on the court off the ball, as he found himself in catch-and-shoot scenarios where he has the ability to knock shots down from beyond the arc. Jacob does pretty much everything that you'd want in a point guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='2257790' first='Nicholas' last='Topolosek'] Liberty (AZ Grind 15U NB National)

In a couple of games of watching this AZ Grind team over the weekend, Nicholas had a solid outing shooting the ball this weekend, specifically from three. He had 5 threes in one game, typically off the dribble pulling up or in a catch-and-shoot scenario. He also made good extra passes and facilitated well out of drive and kick situations.

[player_tooltip player_id='2423049' first='Ben' last='Petrick'] Pinnacle (Peak 15U - Omeara)

Ben is a fundamental point guard that plays at his own pace. He handles pressure well for the most part, and his playmaking ability keeps the defense on their heels. He has a very good touch around the rim, whether laying the ball up or utilizing a floater. He also had a couple of acrobatic layups that left people speechless.

[player_tooltip player_id='2407205' first='Jamir' last='Smith'] Chandler ([program_tooltip program_id='2407834' first='AZ' last='Phenoms'] 15U)

Jamir is a good big to have in the pick-and-roll and also has the ability to block shots at an effective rate around the rim. Jamir does well finishing around the rim and showed this weekend he can finish above the rim on occasion as well. Jamir found himself at the free-throw line a lot this weekend, where he showed he can capitalize there, and it's not an easy foul.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432180' first='Daylen' last='Holt'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2075730' first='New' last='Mexico D1'] 2027)

He is a lefty point guard who is very shifty and twitchy with every movement he makes. Daylen has an elite handle for his age which he used to create attacking downhill or pull up off the bounce where he seemed automatic in that area. He very seldom took a bad shot this weekend. In the mid-range he has good footwork in getting into his spin jumper that he likes. He also has a steady shot from three. The future is bright for Daylen.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432574' first='Terrance' last='Byrd'] Highland Prep ([program_tooltip program_id='2432520' first='Team' last='Takeoff'] Tillman 2027)

A right-handed forward who has great slashing ability. When attacking downhill, he gets to the rim at will and usually finds himself at the free-throw line or with a bucket. He has a good sense of changing direction when he gets cut off attacking downhill. He had a few instances where he got a defensive rebound and took it coast to coast. His long reach allows him to extend out, finishing around the rim and affecting shots on the defensive end. In one game to finish out the weekend, he had 38 points. Terrance is a player with a lot of potential.
