As we continue our look into last week's session in Indianapolis, we now highlight Class of 2026 players who's rebounding prowess helped them stand out amongst the crowd. Surprisingly, the list does not only consist of big men, but we have some aggressive guards who just out hustle everyone and crash the boards.

Florida Rebels [player_tooltip player_id='1633116' first='Michael' last='Madueme'], the 6'4” wing, shined during Session 3. Even though he's a wiry wing, he used his body and positioning to carve out his own area on the court to rebound. With his head up and a guard mentality, he's able to rebound and go, initiating offense and finding his teammates in stride. From what he's shown on the circuit thus far, Madueme has an expanding offensive game as well. Most of his scoring has come from within 8 to 10 feet but with more reps, his long-range shooting will come around as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2415584' first='Kendall' last='Connor'], standing 6'8” and 225 lbs is a flat-out bruiser. The forward/center has great hands on the catch and a soft touch rebounding or redirecting offensive boards with a quick tip-in. That second jump is something he is excellent at with offensive rebounding. His positional recognition and basketball IQ are on full display when rebounding as he tracks the ball trajectory from the shooters hand landing into his. Being in the right spot to secure the glass was the highlight of his Indy weekend.

Another surprising rebounder from the guard spot is [player_tooltip player_id='1659512' first='Ian' last='Parham'] Jr. Standing 6'5” and 175 lbs. Parham is such a deceptively quick player, he flashes all across the court and is able to grab a board and go! When he gets an offensive board, his first thought is to get the ball out to the three-point line to a teammate so they can shoot or attack with the defense all converged. Most of the time getting the defensive rebound, it only took three to four dribbles to get to the opposite court for Parham and initiate offense for the Rebels. Quick and decisive grabbing rebounds and getting things going allow for a fast-paced team to keep that momentum.

[player_tooltip player_id='1660030' first='Herly' last='Brutus'] is a 6'5”, 180 lb forward for the Rebels. He's springy and active on the glass for his team. If Brutus is even remotely in the vicinity of the ball, and you don't have a body on him, he will secure that board through traffic and any other disruptions. As the second highest rebounder on the team for the circuit this year, Brutus has a gravity about him that always seems to land the ball in his hands. He will sky above a pack and frequently be the player who comes down with the ball through sheer force of will and then he's zipping down the court posting up his defender or floating to the wings to get the ball back and begin to operate.

It always is beneficial for a team to commit itself to rebounding the ball and not solely relying on the bigs to do the dirty work. More and more guards and wings are expanding their ballhandling skills and able to rebound and lead a break. Having a solid number of players from multiple positions who all crash the glass and can get the board, turn and go will allow a team to push pace and find those fast break opportunities more and more. Keep it here as we take a dive into guard play next.
