Top Spot - [player_tooltip player_id='1572690' first='Chase' last='Thompson']

What has led to [player_tooltip player_id='1572690' first='Chase' last='Thompson'] moving into the top Spot (as we have alluded to several times already this month)? I think basketball in bullet points is the best way to run through the reasons:

I thought Chase did a great job handling the five spot for Alex doing things around the basket when [player_tooltip player_id='1284138' first='Grayson' last='Grove'] was injured and then when Grove was back Chase did the same stretch four things and high low things he's done so well

Thompson's frame looks stronger and he's moving as well as we have seen.

Chase has led [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] to a lot of wins as the go to guy and he's scoring as much in the paint - attacking or being a post - as much as he is playing the stretch four role

Thompson has been the 17u MVP in Minnesota this spring

He's of course the stretch four type the modern game loves as well

Junior Class Player of the Year

[player_tooltip player_id='1579885' first='Nolan' last='Groves'] was the top junior this season in terms of player of the year. His Orono team played in the state tournament, Groves was a top scorer in the state, and his combo guard game led his team into the top ten for most of the season. He's now a top five area prospect.

Richfield Scorer

[player_tooltip player_id='1574223' first='CJ' last='Armstrong'] was another one of the top scoring options in the state this season. The Richfield guard was a 30 point per game guy and pushed himself into a top ten spot in the state prospect wise. A top five scorer in the state! Armstrong has also been a key scoring option for [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] all spring.

Quick Hitters

[player_tooltip player_id='1595734' first='JJ' last='Semanko'] had an outstanding junior season and I think is a full scholarship level shooter/scorer/competitor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1589407' first='Marley' last='Curtis'] has the combination of size, strength and agility that few players in his class have. A full scholarship player, I think he can take another jump this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1575342' first='Isaac' last='Cordes']. The Shakopee point guard is playing the way he has been for the past few seasons but what has really helped him take another step is some additional height and a lot of added muscle to his frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='1567964' first='Isa' last='El-Amin']. I love the way he is running the team for [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota']. Type of lead guard they need on the floor late in the game. And not to mention, he was a key player for the state champs!

[player_tooltip player_id='2103377' first='Ryan' last='Hirst'] of Fergus Falls has grown to 6'7, he's moving well as a face-up forward player, and now he's becoming a very consistent producer. We could be looking at an NSIC talent.

[player_tooltip player_id='1874834' first='Drew' last='Hjelmeland'] of Dawson-Boyd has shown to be a versatile, active frontcourt player that moves well and can do things both in the paint and facing up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1586882' first='Jeremiah' last='Johnson'] of STMA has a special attacking feel and that mid-range game is outstanding. He's a sneaky pick to have an all state senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1874817' first='Connor' last='Peterson'] of St. Francis. If there was a stock risers award from near the bottom to a higher spot it would be Connor. A good sized versatile scorer.

Two guards that need a mention here are [player_tooltip player_id='2104550' first='Alex' last='Franson'] of Marshall and [player_tooltip player_id='1288835' first='James' last='Fager II'] of Lakeville North. And a big man who will play football but is a heck of a hooper too, that is [player_tooltip player_id='2109935' first='Abu' last='Tarawallie'].
