There is loss but at the same time it allows new prospects to step up and we certainly have found some. Here we will break down a few intriguing playmakers we think are next up from the area.

We saw Valadez for the first time this season and really enjoyed the way he played the position. He is a driver, primary ball handler, runs P&R and loves to get his teammates going. The freshmen creates for others on the perimeter, finds cutting wings, sets up his bigs when attacking and isn’t too bad of a scorer himself. Valadez gets to the line, can make threes, got some great experience with the deep playoff run and should be one of the top passers in Section VIII.
Kahmel Wilmot
Kahmel Wilmot
Wilmot was probably the smallest player on a varsity roster but it’s not every day an 8th grader is in the rotation especially at a powerhouse like Brentwood. While only in 2028 this young dynamo was fearless at making plays, hitting shots, getting to the line and competing on defense. His size definitely limits him in some aspects but he was never afraid of the moment, was terrific in his moments and the team played their best when he was contributing. We would recomment you definitely remember the name.
Nelson had a breakout season for the Falcons and was one of their primary scorers all year. He showed a solid three level scoring ability, was so tough around the basket, got better by the game and seems to be fully trust by the Deer Park coaching staff. His passing is impressive, he’s a wonderful athlete, understands how to use his body to create contact and has major superstar potential. This young prospect has a big time skillset, great basketball IQ, is loved by his teammates and looks like a future All Long Island selection.
Hank Williams
Hank Williams
Williams has put together two terrific seasons for Lawrence Woodmere and is on an all time trajectory. He’s won back to back MVPs of the league, he is arguably the best three point shooter in the PSAA and still has plenty of time to get better. We love his ability to make deep threes, heat up from downtown, finish around the basket as well as make mid range shots. The offense is off the charts, his IQ may be even better, he competed way more on the defensive end and seems to be eliminating his weaknesses.
Howell just finished his second varsity season as the Baldwin point guard despite still only being in 9th grade. The young point guard shocked many when he got the call up and started for the Bruins since they are one of the powerhouses for Long Island basketball. We have seen college players not get minutes until Senior year at that program so we understand how rare it is for Howell to be in there. However he is no gimmick, he has an elite assist to turnover ratio, he lives at the line, has a deadly mid range game and seems to never let his offense have a bad possession. This prospect is only going to get better over the next few seasons as he becomes an all time great at Baldwin.

Orlando Morris
Orlando Morris
Morris is the oldest prospect in the article despite only being in 2026. He just wrapped up his second season running the show for the Bears and looked really strong this year. The sophomore standout lead them in assists, was second in scoring, improved his percentages from last year and looked way more comfortable. We believe he should continue to cause chaos in the PSAA for the next two seasons as he keeps boosting up his recruitment profile.
