Miles is one of the most well rounded prospects in Minnesota’s 2025 class and showed out this weekend. He is very athletic and was running in transition, throwing down big time dunks in the open. He can stretch the floor on the perimeter, being able to shoot off the catch or pull up off the dribble. He has great touch around the rim and was converting on tough layups and shots in the paint through traffic. Expect Newton to have a breakout summer with Real Phenom.
Highlights
De’Angelo’s offensive skill set was one of the deepest I saw all weekend, as he is a true three level scorer. He can play at his own pace and use a lot of different dribble combinations in isolation. He was getting downhill, being so tough to stop at the basket when he gets to his right hand. He was also finding success pulling up in the mid-range, being able to stop on a dime for a shot. Dungey is a major threat from beyond the arc off the catch as well.
Highlights
Tyler’s versatile skill set was on full display this weekend, showing why he is a top five prospect in Minnesota’s 2025 class. He stands at 6’6” and can shoot right over the defense with his quick release and high release point. He has shown much improvement on being able to attack the basket using the dribble, being able to get inside and score in a couple different ways. Wagner will be one of the best players in Minnesota high school basketball next season.
Highlights
Preston took over in the one matchup I saw this weekend, making incredibly tough takes to the basket look easy. He has solid size for a wing/combo guard and had no problems taking defenders off the dribble. He was converting on some impressive acrobatic finishes, fighting through contact on a lot of them. He served as his team’s main ball handler, showing the ability to conduct an offense as well. He also showed flashes of being able to score from the perimeter.
Highlights
JP turned in some really impressive performances this weekend, leading his team to a perfect 4-0 record. He is such a versatile player who can play in a variety of different roles on any given team. He can use his length and athleticism to rebound and defend at a high level, being able to match up with guards or forwards. He looked good playing on and off the ball offensively, being able to create using the dribble or spot up for catch-and-shoot looks from beyond the arc.
The combination of Izayah’s size and skill makes him one of the top prospects in the state’s 2027 class. He has a strong 6’4” frame and a super tight handle. He can create for himself using the dribble, as he likes to get to pull up jumpers in the mid-range or from deep. He can also work around defenders in isolation and attack the basket for tough finishes at the cup. Cook has a ton of potential and still looked advanced playing up at the 16U level this weekend.
Ryan Mann
Ryan Mann
Ryan was red hot in the matchup I saw this weekend, knocking down seven triples in a win over Minnesota Lightning. He did almost all of his scoring from beyond the arc, being the go-to option when teammates were looking to kick out. He can get shots off quick in the catch-and-shoot and moves well without the ball to free himself for open looks. Mann is another name to watch in the super deep Wayzata pipeline.
