Continue ReadingWe continue our Grassroots Spotlights series in April taking a look at Team Loaded VA 16U group. The Richmond based Adidas 3SSB program has been one of the best in the country over the past decade, and this year’s 16U team might be one of the most talented they’ve had in a long time. Here’s a look at their roster after one session.
Kosi Mgbejiofor | 6’11” C | Winston Salem Christian ’26
Mgbejiofor was a standout on the 15U team last year and in his first year at WSC after transferring from Catholic HS, and he is one of the highest ceiling players on this group moving forward. At 6’11” he moves like he’s a wing with his ability to get up and down the floor, he’s an excellent leaper making him a good finisher and rim protector and he continues to get better every time we see him.
Connor Yohance | 6’3” CG | 1 of 1 Prep ’26
Yohance was a standout at 1 of 1 Prep and is considered one of the best young prospects in North Carolina, and it’s easy to see with his all-out style of play and consistent production. He’s the type of player that has that “dog” in him with his toughness and high motor, he’s a big time athlete who can get downhill and finish at or above the rim and he can knock down open shots as well.
Adam Oummidoch | 6’6” SG | OTE ’26
Oummidoch was one of the top young players in the DMV before choosing to go to Overtime Elite last year, and he’s made a name for himself as one of the top players in his class on the east coast. The 6’6” wing has great body control with the ability to get downhill and finish through contact regularly, he’s a good shooter from deep off the catch and he’s a good rebounder for his position too.
Ean McLaughlin | 6’0” PG | Mt. Zion ’26
McLaughlin was one of the youngest players on MZP this year, but that didn’t stop him from making a big time impact across the board. The 6’0” guard is a dual threat at the lead guard spot who can both score it and make plays for others, he’s crafty when he gets downhill with the ability to finish and make difficult passes and he has a great first step with the ability to change speeds and directions well.
Devin Toatley | 6’0” PG | St. John’s ’26
Totally is following in his brother Donvoan’s steps who had a successful division one career at multiple schools, and he has a lot of similar qualities with his impressive athletic and crafty abilities with the ball in his hands. He has a lightning quick first step and is a blur in transition, he has a tight handle that can break down defenders and he’s able to elevate and finisher over bigger defenders when he gets downhill.
Chase Foster | 6’10” PF | West Edmonston ’26
Foster is one of the most intriguing young prospects in the country, as he has a unique blend of skill and athleticism at his size that you just simply don’t see at his age. At 6’10” he’s a walking mismatch with his ability to step out and knock down shots from deep, he can put it on the deck and get to spots in the midrange or to the rim, he can post up and finish over the shoulder and he moves his feet well defensively.
DJ Robinson | 6’3” CG | St. Mary’s Ryken ’26
Robinson is going to fit in well with the group throughout the summer, as he is playing with talented scorers and will be able to help them get shots with his natural playmaking ability. He’s a shifty guard who can break down defenders and is excellent in pick-and-rolls, he has great feel when he touches the paint, he’s a good finisher and his IQ extends to the defensive end as well.
Connor Lyons Connor Lyons 6'7" | PF St. Anne's-Belfield | 2026 State VA | 6’7” F | STAB ’26
Lyons was an integral part and starter for STAB’s team that made it back to the VISAA D1 State Championship before losing to the #2 team in the country PVI, and while he was one of the younger players on the team it’s easy to see his intrigue moving forward. The 6’7” forward has a strong build and can bang in the post, he’s an absolute driller from deep off the catch and he moves well to relocate and get open.
JJ Addison | 6’6” F | Frederick ’26
Addison was a state champion this past year with Frederick where he was one of the top players in all of Maryland public schools, and he’s one of the most versatile players you’ll find at his size. The 6’6” hybrid forward is a big time mismatch as he can post up smaller defenders and take slower ones off the bounce, he can knock down shots from deep and in the midrange and he has great length and athleticism as a finisher.
