Continue ReadingClass C and Class B have had some stud players over the years. Going into this summer, there is another crop of players that should be focal points of shoe circuit teams and high level teams traveling this spring and summer. They should also be players on the JSE watch list for their June event. In this review, we will look at eight players to watch this coming summer who were all-state players.
De’avery Durham De’avery Durham 5'9" | PG Gibsland-Coleman | 2026 State LA (Gibsland-Coleman | 2025) – Durham has been the best point guard in Class C since his 8th grade year. He is a smooth lefty who uses the three to open up the drive. Durham is also very good in transition finding others. A travel team in need of a point guard should try to get him if he is available.
Jalen Brown Jalen Brown 5'10" | PG Avoyelles Charter | 2025 State LA (Avoyelles Charter | 2025) – Brown is a 2 time MOP at the state tournament and 2 time most outstanding player in his class. He has been one of the best point guards in the state. His ability to score at all three levels is remarkable. He is also a gifted passer. Brown may end up being the top point guard in his class when it is all said and done. Definitely a shoe circuit guard.
Kaleb Gregory (Claiborne Christian | 2025) – Gregory is probably the best shooter in Class B and C. He is a smaller guard but packs a lot of punch. Gregory can hit teams from the logo or use his deceptive handle to get to the paint. He is a high IQ player who will only get better this summer.
Armonii Benjamin Armonii Benjamin 6'2" | CG Avoyelles Public Charter | 2026 State LA (Avoyelles Charter | 2026) – The Avoyelles Charter sophomore is a certified bucket. Benjamin can score at all three levels and has the vertical to finish above the rim. He can also play lead guard if need be. His talents were seen on the shoe circuit last season and will more than likely be this summer. He is a high level guard and must see talent.
Preston Sanders Preston Sanders 6'2" | CG Zwolle | 2025 State LA (Zwolle | 2025) – Sanders is a two time state champion after the Zwolle victory this month. He is also one of the best transition players in the Boot. Sanders runs the floor like no other guard/wing and has a myriad of finishes at the cup. His perimeter defense is also very good which makes him a player to see on the EYBL/EYCL circuit this summer.
Kane Broussard Kane Broussard 6'5" | CG Lacassine | 2025 State LA (Lacassine | 2025) – While the 6’5″ Broussard is a gifted baseball player, he is as gifted as they come on the hardwood. Kane is a gifted scorer and an excellent rebounder. He can rebound and traffic and has no problem scoring in traffic as well. His athleticism makes him a hard player to guard. If he is not playing baseball, a travel team could use him at the wing.
Rondell Battle Rondell Battle 6'0" | CG Phoenix | 2026 State LA (Phoenix | 2026) – Battle is another guard who has been playing at a high level since his 8th grade year. He is a lefty who can get to the cup as well as shoot the lights out from three. While he plays off guard mostly, he has the ability to play the one. For a summer team looking for a scorer, he could be your guy.
DeMarion McClendon (Doyline | 2025) – McClendon might be on the small side but he packs a big punch on the floor. He uses the three and his handle to get where he wants on the floor. He is not afraid of paint contact and will mix it up in there as well. A team needing a solid point cannot do much better by having McClendon on their team.
Along with summer travel, these players will have the month of June to showcase their skills with their high school team. Look out for these players as the summer progresses.
