While they may not be as noticed as others, the Class 1A team has some players that can flat out go. From the all-state list alone, there are definitely some players that should turn the heads of coaches. In this review of the all-state team, we will look at some of the players from Class 1A that should be on various radars this summer.
Dwight Magee Dwight Magee 5'9" | PG Crescent City | 2026 State LA (5’9″ | Crescent City) – Magee is one of the more explosive guards in the 2025 class. He can get a bucket at every level imaginable with his combination of speed and power. His ability to shoot off the dribble is one of the main attributes that allowed him to average 29 ppg. Magee can also find others for quality looks. There is a reason he was named MOP in the state finals and his classification. He can do it all at a high level.
Spencer Dunn Spencer Dunn 6'0" | PG Homer | 2025 State LA (6’0″ | Homer) – While he may be one of the best defensive backs coming back next season, Dunn is not a bad guard either. He is a defensive disruptor and can change games with his defense. Once Dunn gets into the open floor, he is almost guaranteed to finish. Homer has a tradition of hard-nosed aggressive guards and he falls on that list.
D’Nharayane Vital D’Nharayane Vital 6'10" | C Hamilton Christian | 2026 State LA (6’10” | Hamilton Christian) – Vital is a player who can dominate a game just by his sheer presence. Not only is he a rebounding force and a shot blocker, he is rounding into a better offensive option. His big frame has legs like tree trunks and he can anchor himself in the paint for short hooks as well as offensive boards. What’s really scary is that he can run the floor also. Vital has All-American potential before his days at Hamiton Christian are done.
Roderick Tezeno Roderick Tezeno 6'2" | SG Opelousas Catholic | 2026 State LA (6’2″ | Opelousas Catholic) – Tezeno is another two sport talent who thrives on the gridiron and the court. His basketball IQ as a sophomore is very mature. Couple this with his athleticism and Tezeno is as talented as they come. He reminds me of Keon Coleman in the sense that he can perform at a high level in both venues. Coming into his junior season, Tezeno is going to be hard to stop on the hardwood for sure.
Jermarquis Hampton Jermarquis Hampton 6'1" | CG Haynesville | 2025 State LA (6’1″ | Haynesville) – While Haynesville is known for explosive football players, Hampton’s work on the hardwood might have them known for something else. He is one of the best players in the Northwest Louisiana area going into next season. Hampton can score at the cup and in the mid-range. He is also very good at on-the-ball defense. His all-around play will be something to watch this summer.
These five players have the ability to be game changers this summer. Playing in the right travel program and performing well in June with their team will show what kind of players they are. Class 1A definitely has some bonafide hoopers. These five are a testament to that.
