Here’s a look at part two of some of the many standouts from the event.
Kyan Bowman Kyan Bowman 6'4" | SF St. Stephen's St. Agnes | 2024 State VA | 6’3” SG | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes
Bowman has been not just a standout player but a great leader throughout his career at SSSAS, and he showed similar qualities at the camp as well. The 6’3” shooting guard injured his wrist within the first few minutes, but refused to sit out and made great plays throughout the event while being one of the more unselfish and tough players in the camp. He scored the ball well off the catch and off the bounce, he made plays defensively and he made plays for others too.
Devon Bell | 6’3” F | Manchester
Bell is coming off a great senior season where he showed he’s one of the top players in the Richmond area, and he wasted no time getting after it in the camp as well. The 6’3” forward showed a fantastic motor as he ran the floor, defended and rebounded while also being productive on both ends of the floor. He’s a fantastic finisher when he gets downhill and he showed his versatility guarding bigger players as well.
Emmanuel Angila | 6’1” CG | Kempsville
Angila was the driving force behind Kempsville’s somewhat surprising run to the regional finals this year, and he showed he could help a school next year with his all-around skillset. At 6’1” the combo guard showed a tight handle and the ability to change speeds and get in the lane, he created space and made tough shots and he competed on both ends of the floor. He’s a good athlete who is surprisingly strong for his size and he’s an unselfish playmaker as well.
JR Griffin | 5’10” PG | Kempsville
Griffin was the other part of the talented Kempsville backcourt this year, and while he’s much different than Angila he showed he has a very unique and tough skillset as well. He showed very good shotmaking ability as he drilled shots from all over the floor both off the catch and off the bounce and was a crafty finisher as well. He was able to play both on and off the ball and has a great IQ and understanding of how to be impactful on both ends despite his limitations due to his size.
Brennan Chatman Brennan Chatman 6'3" | SF Norfolk Collegiate | 2024 State VA | 6’2” CG | Norfolk Collegiate
Chatman is coming off an All State season with NoCo where he was their senior leader and breakout player, and he showed why in the camp with his all-around production and skillset. The 6’2” lefty made shots at a very high clip particularly off the bounce, and he showed the ability to put it on the deck and make plays for others. He has a knack defensively for getting deflections and good hands to pick pockets and he was very efficient throughout the event.
Elijah Hall | 6’3” PG | Mt. St. Josephs
Hall was the only kid not from VA in the camp as he came all the way from Baltimore and showed he was one of the most talented kids in the camp and one of the best available guards in the B-More area. At 6’3” he not only has good size and length as a lead guard but he has a lot of game to go with it as he was very tough to guard throughout the event. He’s a shifty ball handler who changes speeds and directions well, he can create space to make tough shots, he’s an excellent playmaker who’s very unselfish and he showed a competitive chip to him as well.
