This past weekend we had our first Prep Hoops event to start out Grassroots Season. The event brought out plenty of new faces and was a great way for players to gauge where they are amongst their peers. We were able to form 6 Teams out of the kids that came, giving us room to write about every team. In this article I will be giving you an inside look at Team 4 and what each payer was able to bring to the table.

[player_tooltip player_id='1903564' first='Jamal' last='Hassan'] - Overland

The other five teams didn't really have an answer for [player_tooltip player_id='1903564' first='Jamal' last='Hassan']. His size and length were a problem for teams all day. Especially when he would grab a rebound and take it the full length of the court for a layup. He was unstoppable in the open court, but let's not leave out his ability to shoot it off the dribble of take care of smaller guards in the post.

[player_tooltip player_id='2138439' first='Jackson' last='Barker'] - Timnath

[player_tooltip player_id='2138439' first='Jackson' last='Barker'] was somebody that caught my eye based off his willingness to step up and defend. Something you don't see much at Showcase events, but that was just the beginning. He seemed to only take the shoots he knew he could make, not forcing it if he didn't have it, making him the perfect teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='1622247' first='Kymani' last='Eason'] - Overland

I love [player_tooltip player_id='1622247' first='Kymani' last='Eason'] game, he will be player to watch out for this year as I feel like he will have a great summer. He is scoring guard that poses a matchup problem because of how long and athletic he is. His pace is what separates him from other players, you really don't know what he is going to do when he is on the prowl.

[player_tooltip player_id='1622329' first='Soren' last='Singer'] - Englewood

If you want a player that came in and made a name for himself, you'd have to put [player_tooltip player_id='1622329' first='Soren' last='Singer'] at the top of the list. The big man came and gave 100% every game, he ran the floor, finished at rim, cleaned the glass, and had fun while doing it. Soren is a player that you love to play with but hate to play against.

Giovanni Seeman - Aspen

Team 4 had its share of complimentary players but none more important than Giovanni Seeman. The way he was able to use his body in the paint to get easy opportunities was a huge reason for the team's success. On occasion he put the ball on the floor and was able to attack the rim in one-on-one situations.

[player_tooltip player_id='2079122' first='Cayden' last='Quinn'] - Denver Waldorf

[player_tooltip player_id='2079122' first='Cayden' last='Quinn'] acted as a much-needed shooter for the team. He was able to get great looks from various places on the floor. Including a couple of tough shots off the dribble with a defender all over him.

Ivan Swenson - Aurora Science Tech

Ivan Swenson is kid that plays the game with a lot of heart, and it translate in his play, he fights for 50/50 balls and refuses to be scored on. Offensively he put himself in positions to be get easy 3's or layups. Playing the game this way gives him an edge because it's hard to know what he will bring to the table game to game.

Harley Harding - Pueblo County

The speed of the play always rose when Harley Harding was playing. When he enters the game, he puts constant pressure on the defense by turning the game into a track meet. Harley is able to get downhill at will getting him easy looks at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='1905855' first='Ilyas' last='Elmi'] - DSST Cedar/Byers

Talking about a player that thrives in transition Ilyas is that guy. He looked at his best when he was able to get two feet in the paint and finish with contact at the rim. So much so that defends didn't know how to challenge him once he left the ground.
