Not only are current seniors visiting, committing and planning their collegiate futures, many of them are still putting their talents on display for college coaches. The Fullcourt Press Diamond in the Rough showcase brought in some of the top unsigned seniors in SoCal and below we break down some of the top performers.
Bishop Brooks Bishop Brooks 6'4" | SF Taft | 2024 State CA-S | West Ranch
Brooks is a strong and athletic shooting guard who made his name as a guy who can knock down catch and shoot three’s with limited time and space but showed in this event that he can make things happen off the bounce, as well. Brooks used a good first step to blow-by defenders, get into the lane and elevated for finishes at the rim.
Jayden Barnes | Garfield
Barnes is a smart and crafty point guard with the ability to create for himself and others off the bounce. The 6-foot point guard is shifty with the ball in his hands and has a good set of change of speed and direction moves that allow him to get into the lane. Barnes also showed good touch from three-point range and has a balanced mid-range jumper.
Jay-Juan Gould Jay-Juan Gould 6'2" | CG Phhoenix Prep | 2024 State AZ | Phhoenix Prep (AZ)
It’s rare you see a guy give great energy and effort on the defensive end in these types of events but Gould was applying a good amount of on-ball pressure, communicating on screens and in help-side defense and used his length and instincts to make ball handlers uncomfortable. Offensively, Gould was aggressive in transition as he got to the rim and finished on the break.
Jordan Hougban | Brentwood
Hougban was one of the best three-point shooters in the Southern Section over the last two seasons and he knocked down plenty of them in this showcase. The 6-foot-3 combo guard is a multiple distance and multiple range shooter who doesn’t need much time or space to get his shot off.
Seven Bahati | Riverside Notre Dame
Bahati wasn’t able to get cleared for his senior season at Coronado high school in Henderson (NV) so his name might be flying more under the radar that it would be had he played. The 6-foot-5 wing was one of the more prolific open court and vertical athletes in this event. Bahati skied his way to above the rim finishes, drove for baskets through traffic and navigated his way downhill for transition buckets.
